James Gunn has revealed when the first trailer for Lanterns will be released.

Lanterns, a new TV series from DC Studios and Warner Bros. Television, is coming to HBO later this year. Created by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King, the show features Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre as iconic Green Lanterns Hal Jordan and John Stewart.

James Gunn revealed on Twitter that the initial trailer for the film ‘Lanterns’ will debut on Thursday, March 5, 2026.

Lanterns centers on John Stewart, a new Green Lantern recruit, and Hal Jordan, a seasoned Lantern veteran. Together, these intergalactic law enforcers team up to solve a mysterious murder that takes them to the American Midwest.

In a recent interview with Men’s Health, actor Aaron Mundy discussed his role in Lanterns, explaining that the show explores the idea of letting go and passing on responsibility – knowing when to step aside and allow someone new to lead. He highlighted the dynamic between his character and another, emphasizing the power that comes from remaining calm and avoiding confrontation. Mundy explained that his character possesses a quiet confidence, not needing to prove himself. He believes Aaron, the actor, naturally embodies this balance, possessing both a physically imposing presence and a gentle, thoughtful nature – qualities that can’t be faked.

Nathan Fillion will return as Guy Gardner in the upcoming series Lanterns. The show will also star Kelly Macdonald as Kerry, Garret Dillahunt as William Macon, Ulrich Thomsen as Sinestro, Poorna Jagannathan as Zoe, Nicole Ari Parker as Bernadette Stewart, Jason Ritter as Billy Macon, and Sherman Augustus as John Stewart Sr., among others.

An exact release date for Lanterns has not yet been announced.
