With the second season of Landman premiering this weekend, Sam Elliott has shared when fans can expect season 3. Following the success of the first season on Paramount+ in late 2024, Landman season 2 is coming back quickly on Sunday, November 16 – a fast turnaround for a streaming show.
The popular series Landman might return to Paramount+ quickly for a third season. In a recent interview with ExtraTV, Sam Elliott hinted that filming for season 3 is planned to start in April or May 2026. He also shared that after considering a long break from acting following his role in Taylor Sheridan’s 1883, he’s enthusiastic about continuing his role as Tommy Norris’ father in Landman, starting with season 2 and potentially beyond.
I’m really looking forward to season 3 of Landman. Now that season 2 is finished, it feels like history, and we’re all focused on starting filming for the next season in April and May.
This news is unexpected, especially since Paramount+ hasn’t confirmed a third season of Landman yet. Concerns about the show’s future also arose when it was announced that co-creator Taylor Sheridan is moving from Paramount to NBCUniversal, after being behind the success of shows like Yellowstone.
As a big fan of Landman, I was relieved to hear from co-creator Christian Wallace that the show will definitely continue, even with Taylor Sheridan stepping back. Apparently, they have a lot more story to tell after season two! It sounds like things are already moving forward too – someone mentioned filming for season three could start as early as spring 2026, which is great news considering all the recent changes.
If filming for Landman season 3 starts in April 2026, it will follow a similar schedule to season 2. Season 2 began filming in Texas in early April 2025 and premiered on Paramount+ about seven months later. This suggests season 3 could be released as soon as November 2026.
News from Elliott is encouraging for fans of the show, especially regarding the storylines of Tommy and his father. Their expected return for season 2 suggests they’ll make it through the dangerous events to come. However, as proven by the fate of Jon Hamm’s character Monty in season 1, no one is safe on Landman, and the Norris family will face even greater risks this season.
Paramount hasn’t officially said whether Landman will get a third season, and we might not know until after season 2 finishes airing. Season 2 wasn’t confirmed until March 2025—about two months after season 1 ended—and filming started shortly after that announcement. So, we can expect a similar timeline for news about season 3.
