Okay, so I just watched the season 2 premiere of Landman, and wow, it immediately threw a curveball! Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) is reeling from a shocking death – it seriously changes everything for him. The season picks up a few weeks after the first one ended, and we see Tommy supporting Cami Miller (Demi Moore) as she tries to keep M-Tex afloat and reassure all the partners and investors now that she’s running the company on her own.
At the beginning of Landman season 2, Cami and Tommy are still grieving the recent death of Monty Miller (Jon Hamm). With Monty gone, Tommy has stepped up as the new President of M-Tex and is now incredibly busy.
Tommy already has a lot on his plate, and his family – his wife Angela, daughter Ainsley, and son Cooper – only make things more complicated.
The second season of Landman kicked off with Angela trying—and failing—to put together a family dinner. Her explosive outburst was calmed down by Tommy, but their relief was short-lived when they received the devastating news of Tommy’s mother’s passing.
What Tommy’s Mother’s Death Means For Landman Season 2

Though Tommy Norris’ mother is still alive, she’s expected to have a significant impact on him in the upcoming season of Landman. Tommy rarely discusses his past, but it’s evident he had a difficult childhood, very different from the stable family life he and Angela are now building.
In season 2 of Landman, the show will explore how Tommy deals with the loss of his mother and how this impacts his relationships. We’ll learn more about Tommy’s past through his reactions to her death and the things he shares with Nathan (Colm Feore) and Dale Bradley (James Jordan), ultimately revealing the experiences that shaped him into the person he is today.
I feel so bad for Tommy, even though Angela drives him crazy. He really is trying to fix things between them, you know? It makes me wonder if his struggles come from watching his own parents – his dad, T.L. Norris, and his mom – because they’re separated too. It’s like history repeating itself, and it’s just sad to see him dealing with all of this.
I’m really intrigued by how Tommy Norris’ mother’s death will play out in season 2 of Landman. It seems like it’s going to reveal a lot about Cooper and Ainsley’s connection to their grandmother, and also how well Angela actually knew her husband’s mother. From what I’ve heard, the new season is going to really dig into Tommy’s past and the whole Norris family – it sounds like there’s a lot more to uncover!
How Tommy’s Father Will Be A Major Player In Landman Season 2

The second season of Landman began by introducing Tommy’s father, T.L. Norris, as a key new character. Now living in an assisted living facility, the elderly T.L. appears to be very lonely and feels forgotten. It seems he rarely hears from Tommy or any other members of his family.
In season 2 of Landman, Tommy and T.L. will likely reconnect after Tommy’s mother passes away, though it’s unclear if they’ll be happy about it. Tommy has never spoken about his father, and with T.L. now completely alone, it’s unlikely Tommy will be eager to reunite with her.
Cooper Norris is another key figure introduced in season 2 of Landman. The season appears to delve into the relationships between three generations of Norris men, and whether Cooper knew his grandfather will likely be a central part of that story.
Cooper’s connection with Ariana, and his dreams of success in the oil industry, might change as he gets to know T.L.
In season 2 of Landman, if it’s revealed that T.L. Norris also worked in the oil industry, he could offer Tommy valuable knowledge and experience to navigate the challenges at M-Tex, including dealing with dangerous figures like Gallino (Andy Garcia), a powerful drug lord. While Tommy might resist accepting help from his father, he may ultimately find it necessary.
