WARNING: SPOILERS ahead for Landman season 2, episode 6.
In season 2, episode 6 of Taylor Sheridan’s Landman, titled “Dark Night of the Soul,” the story moves forward on several fronts. We see developments in the relationships between Ariana and Cooper, Rebecca and new character Charlie Newsom, and T.L., who continues to grapple with the loss of his mother, Dorothy.
Season 2 of Landman focuses more on family and relationships than on the details of the oil business. While the first season heavily revolved around business dealings and the challenges Tommy faced with Monty and the cartel, this season blurs the lines between Tommy’s personal and professional life, making it less about work and more about how everything impacts him personally.
The show’s heightened dramatic moments are genuinely entertaining, particularly the scenes where Tommy and T.L. work to rebuild their relationship. This episode also felt more realistic thanks to its depiction of the Permian Basin International Oil Show in Odessa, Texas, and the inclusion of two wealthy characters, Cami and Gallino, who attend a reined cow horse competition at a Fort Worth arena.
Landman Season 2 Episode 6 Leans Into Its Neo-Western Charm

The newest episode of Landman builds tension gradually, rather than relying on constant, fast-paced action. Many episodes this season feel more expansive, really leaning into the show’s Western-inspired style and making even simple talks more interesting.
While Landman can occasionally feel a bit predictable – particularly with Angela and Ainsley frequently appearing in the same few locations – these recurring scenes actually create a cozy and comforting feeling, much like in other enjoyable, familiar shows. The show also introduces enough new plot points, such as Cami taking charge over Tommy during the Gallino negotiations, to keep things interesting and moving forward, even if it’s at a steady pace.
Tommy strongly believes Cami’s agreement with Gallino will ultimately cause problems for both her and M-Tex, and it’s pretty clear to viewers what’s going to happen. Gallino claims to keep his illegal activities separate from his legitimate businesses, but it seems certain he’ll use M-Tex to clean money for the cartel.
A key moment in the episode involved T.L. getting into a physical fight with someone he used to know. He still refuses to acknowledge the truth about Dorothy, constantly defending his recollections of her. Even after many years, he’s still deeply affected by her and the tragic loss of his baby daughter, Tommy’s sister, who died from SIDS when she was only four months old.
Tommy & Cami’s Unexpected Rivalry Should Ignite Season 2’s Tension

If you found the second season of Landman a bit slow to start, things are about to pick up. A surprising and intense competition between Tommy and Cami will quickly change the pace.
Right now, Cami is really struggling and sees Gallino as a reliable source of help because he has a lot of resources. This makes things difficult for Tommy, as Cami has a history of acting impulsively and without thinking things through.
I’m really liking the changes in season 2 of Landman. It’s making the show more enjoyable and laid-back to watch. Episode 6 is a great example of how surprisingly heartwarming Landman can be. While the series has always had humor and action, this season feels less rushed and more like a leisurely journey.

Despite the current peace, things could quickly turn dangerous because Gallino is untrustworthy. He’s already manipulated Cami and will completely control her once the deal is finalized. He pretends to be harmless, but he secretly wants to get rid of Tommy – or even harm him – especially now that he knows who Tommy really is.
Here’s what I predict will happen in season 2 of Landman: Ariana and Cooper will likely tie the knot, Tommy and Cami’s agreement with Gallino will probably cause trouble for M-Tex, and Rebecca will deepen her relationship with Charlie.
With a blend of heartfelt emotion from T.L. and Angela’s sophisticated flair, Landman is brimming with Southern charm, making it a truly captivating watch. It expertly balances uplifting moments with drama and suspense, setting it apart from other streaming shows.
