Lady Gaga reveals why she never tried to shut down rumors that she was secretly a man

Lady Gaga reveals why she never tried to shut down rumors that she was secretly a man

I, much like Lady Gaga herself, have witnessed the resilience and unwavering spirit of an artist who refuses to be defined by falsehoods or societal expectations. Her journey, marked by courage and a unique sense of humor, has always been inspiring.

In simpler terms, Lady Gaga has spoken out about a long-standing rumor that dogged her during the initial phase of her career.

In her latest interview on Netflix’s fresh show, “What’s Next? The Future With Bill Gates,” the 38-year-old musician openly discussed how she handled gossips suggesting that she was actually a man disguised as a woman.

In the second episode of the show, she was featured alongside a 68-year-old technology pioneer, multi-billionaire, and philanthropist.

As stated by Lady Gaga, who recently debuted her latest Joker film sequel in Venice, she found herself unfazed by gossip surrounding her personal life as she is accustomed to falsehoods being spread about her in the media.

In my perspective, I find those questions insignificant when considering the magnitude of bullying and abuse faced by others due to their gender identity or sexual orientation, especially when they’re not as publicly recognized as I am.

‘When I was in my early 20s there was a rumor that I was a man,’ Gaga shared with Gates.

She shared that she traveled extensively, going to various parts of the world for concerts and promoting her albums. In almost every interview, people would bring up an altered image they found online, asking, “There are rumors that you’re a man. What is your response to that?” This was one of the topics she remembered discussing during those interviews.

However, Stefani Germanotta, better known as Lady Gaga, chose mostly to disregard the misguided inquiries since they posed no threat to her welfare.

She clarified, “I chose not to respond to the question because it made me feel like an innocent party instead of a victim when faced with that lie. I started thinking about a child who might be falsely accused and wondering if they’d believe a well-known figure like myself would feel embarrassed.

She explained, “I’ve found myself in circumstances where it wasn’t beneficial for others to correct a rumor. In those situations, I aimed to stimulate thought and cause disruption in a different manner. Instead, I used the false information to spark another wave of disruption.

At years of misinformation, Gaga said she had developed a thick skin to similar questions.

For as long as I can remember, starting at age 20, false stories have been circulated about me. Being a performer, I find the situation amusing,” she remarked.

Lady Gaga playfully responded with irritation to Anderson Cooper during a 2011 interview when he brought up speculation that she had a male organ or was intersex.

‘Maybe I do,’ Gaga teased him while suggestively sucking on what appeared to be a diamond.

When he questioned her about why she didn’t swiftly deny the rumors through a public statement, as he expected other famous individuals to do, she retorted, “What’s the point of wasting my time issuing a statement about whether or not I possess male anatomy?

‘My fans don’t care and neither do I,’ she added.

Lady Gaga’s guest spot on Bill Gates’ program occurs while she is gearing up for the premiere of her movie “Joker: Folie à Deux,” where she co-stars with Joaquin Phoenix.

At the beginning of this month, she displayed her striking platinum blonde hair and stylish appearance at the Venice Film Festival, where the premiere of the supervillain sequel took place.
