La Voix lined up for Strictly presenting gig with bosses ‘determined to find a role’ for drag performer

Strictly Come Dancing bosses are keen to feature drag performer La Voix on the show and are planning a presenting role for her in upcoming seasons.

Christopher Dennis, known as a cabaret performer, won over audiences on Strictly with his clever and lively conversations.

The 45-year-old singer was very open about wanting to host the show, even asking Claudia where to submit her resume. She also practiced by filling in for comedic segments with the hosts during the Saturday broadcasts.

She unexpectedly stepped in to host the press conference for the finalists on Wednesday, taking over from the usual hosts, Fleur East and Janette Manrara from Strictly It Takes Two.

The event at BBC Broadcasting House caused quite a buzz among employees when they noticed Kalpna Patel-Knight, the BBC’s Head of Entertainment Commissioning, paying close attention to performer La Voix.

‘It was definitely an audition,’ said one insider.

Television producers believe this performer has the potential to become as iconic as Dame Edna Everage, and they’re eager to get her involved with Strictly Come Dancing, either as a contestant on the main show or on its companion program, It Takes Two.

‘Claudia has been her biggest cheerleader and thinks La Voix is a perfect fit for Strictly.’

On Tuesday, BBC executives invited her to appear on their popular morning show, Morning Live. She successfully filled in as a co-host alongside Helen Skelton, taking the place of Gethin Jones and making a positive impression.

Oh my gosh, you won’t BELIEVE how lovely Paul Dennis is! Apparently, just like Barry Humphries – the genius behind Dame Edna – he’s a total sweetheart to everyone working behind the scenes. Seriously, everyone says he’s incredibly kind and treats all the staff with so much respect. It just makes me love him even MORE!

He’s consistently helped everyone work behind the scenes, and leadership has definitely taken notice of his contributions.

Right now, the main focus is finding new dancers to replace Claudia and Tess, but there’s also been discussion about potentially adding La Voix to the Strictly Come Dancing team.

A contestant on Drag Race UK partnered with Aljaž Skorjanec this season, but had to withdraw due to an injury. They returned to the show last night to watch Karen Carney present the glitterball trophy.
