Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon set to direct and star in horror-comedy Family Movie

As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for horror movies, I can hardly contain my excitement about the upcoming family affair that is Kevin Bacon’s new horror-comedy, “Family Movie”. Having grown up watching Bacon’s chilling performances in classics like “Friday the 13th” and “Tremors”, it’s thrilling to see him teaming up with his talented family for a spooky adventure.

Actor Kevin Bacon, winner of the Golden Globe Award, is preparing for his next horror film following the success of “MaXXXine” produced by A24. This upcoming project promises to be a family endeavor as Bacon, along with his Emmy Award-winning spouse Kyra Sedgwick, and their grown children Travis and Sosie Bacon, will appear together in a horror-comedy titled “Family Movie.

This upcoming film will be created by a skilled team, in partnership with Norman Golightly from Dark Castle Entertainment and Mixed Breed Films. Notably, Dark Castle has previously produced hit horror films like “House on Haunted Hill,” “House of Wax,” “Orphan,” and the recent sequel “Orphan: First Kill.” In addition to our movie, they are also developing a third installment of “Orphan.

At this week’s American Film Market, Neon International is taking care of foreign distribution and showcasing the horror-comedy, while CAA Media Finance will oversee domestic rights. Remarkably, Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick aren’t just acting in this movie but are also its directors. They’ll be at the helm of the production, which is based on a script penned by Dan Beers, known for his work on “Premature”.

The narrative revolves around a tight-knit family involved in movie making, who find themselves unwillingly immersed in a terrifying real-life event when a corpse is found on the set of their current low-budget slasher flick. As their filming turns into a chaotic comedy of errors, they arrive at the decision that the most viable solution to proceed with shooting is by concealing the murder.

According to Dark Castle’s co-CEO, Norman Golightly, here’s his take on collaborating with the Bacon family for their upcoming horror movie: “This is what I have to share about our partnership with the Bacons on our horror project.

There may not be a more compelling Hollywood family than the Bacons. We can’t wait to bring their unique dynamic to the screen and then wildly turn it on its head for audiences.

Lately, Bacon has taken on the character of a corrupt private investigator named John Labat in the series titled “MaXXXine“. Moreover, he has appeared in various horror films like “Friday the 13th“, “Tremors“, “The Darkness“, “You Should Have Left“, “They/Them“, “Stir of Echoes“, “Hollow Man” and “Flatliners“.

Kyra Sedgwick gained significant recognition for playing the role of Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson in the popular crime drama series, The Closer. Contrasting with her husband, Sedgwick has only appeared in a limited number of horror films. Among these were The Possession and Villains.

Sophie, recognized for portraying Dr. Rose Cotter in the chilling lead role of the supernatural horror movie “Smile”, has also made appearances on television shows like “Scream”, “13 Reasons Why”, “Here and Now”, “Narcos: Mexico” and “Mare of Easttown”. Conversely, Travis is a skilled musician and composer, who has previously created music scores for the films “Space Oddity” and “Weekend Deadaway”.
