Kym Marsh, 49, seemingly hits back at resurfaced Hear’Say ‘fat-shaming’ clip as she flashes her abs in a black sports bra while posing for a sizzling mirror selfie

Kym Marsh appears to respond to an old viral video criticizing body weight, as she showcases her toned abs in a selfie posted on Instagram on Tuesday.

In a video from 2002 that recently re-emerged, the singer, aged 49 at the time, was shown being told to lose weight by judge Nigel Lythgoe, who gained the moniker ‘Harsh Nigel’ due to his blunt demeanor on the innovative ITV talent show Popstars.

Now, taking to social media, Kym showed off her sizzling figure as she posed for a new selfie.

The star turned heads as she flaunted her toned physique in a black sports bra and leggings.

‘Building a better me,’ she penned on top of the snap.

Following Myleene Klass, who is 47 years old, expressing her disapproval on Instagram about remarks made by judge Nigel on the ITV program.

In my time on the show, I, being Nigel, critiqued Kym’s appearance and suggested she consider weight loss. This was a part of our discussions about her dietary habits and fitness routines, which were particularly relevant during the formation of Hear’Say, the band we were involved with from 2001 to 2002.

In the video, Kym questioned, “Are you of the opinion that I have gained weight recently?”, and Nigel responded, “It seems like you might have added some pounds around Christmas. Are you keeping active with exercise, and is your current diet suitable?

Kym said, “I began it only today,” which led Nigel to comment, “With a show coming up in six weeks, you really should consider shedding some pounds.

Myleene reposted the video on her Instagram Stories and mentioned that she often experienced body shaming, while some stylists would conceal larger clothing sizes by not providing them, a tactic meant to mask the embarrassment associated with having sizes in the double digits.

She wrote: ‘Yes, daily. Some outfits from stylist may remove size labels to conceal the fact that they are larger than single-digit sizes.’

1) My gossip journals are overflowing with such nonsense! Even the boys felt embarrassed. By the way, did you know that TFI Friday had weighing scales on set?

This version maintains the original’s informal tone while using less offensive language and providing additional context about TFI Friday for those who may not be familiar with it.

In the past, Kym openly discussed her battles with self-perception, admitting that she developed bulimia as a result of comparing herself to slimmer peers during her time at stage school in her youth.

Previously, Nigel stood by his remarks concerning Kym on the program, stating that she currently looks stunning, delivers exceptional performances, and has significantly advanced her career.

In the year 2001, the band Hear’Say emerged as a product of the ITV reality series Popstars. They achieved great success with their chart-topping single “Pure and Simple.

The initial album “Popstars” was an immense success for them, yet the momentum seemed to fade as they unveiled their subsequent release, “Everybody.

In October 2002, they parted ways, having formed just under two years prior through Popstars. They attributed their separation primarily to alleged mistreatment from the public during that period.

In an interview last year, Myleene shared with Loose Women viewers that her management closely monitored and restricted her food intake due to concerns about her gaining weight because they feared she might become overweight.

From my perspective as a lifestyle advisor, let me first address the initial point. At this moment, I find myself contemplating the impending growth in our family dynamic. My daughter is currently 17, and looking ahead, it’s only a year until Suzie, one of our band members, will be at the same age. This milestone for my daughter is something I can’t help but keep an eye on as she approaches adulthood.

‘I think if someone put my daughter through that level of scrutiny or pressure…’

Despite acknowledging significant improvements since that time, Myleene further remarked: ‘Certain ordeals we encountered, we were completely unprepared to handle.’

In the evening, I found myself among a small group of five children huddled together, much like a modern-day quintet of youngsters gathered in a similar setting. That was our world at that moment.
