Kylie Jenner reveals the very savvy move she makes to keep boyfriend of 2 years Timothee Chalamet happy

It has been observed by fashion watchers that since appearing on the red carpet with her partner Timothée Chalamet earlier this month, Kylie Jenner tends to predominantly opt for black outfits whenever she attends public functions in support of him.

Before donning a stunning black Schiaparelli dress at the 70th David Di Donatello Awards in Rome on May 7, she had typically worn black outfits at almost every awards event she attended alongside the 29-year-old Oscar nominee during the season.

Now, it’s worth mentioning that Kylie, whose latest outfit left everyone speechless in a fiery red dress, has at last disclosed the reason behind her frequent choice of black outfits during her relationship with Timothée.

In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, the successful 27-year-old beauty entrepreneur explained why she chose a sleek black hairstyle to avoid drawing attention away from her partner’s accomplishments.

She said, “Even though these stunning, recognizable gowns have been my go-to outfits, there’s something understated and tasteful about a simple black dress as well.

‘You can never go wrong with a black dress,’ Kylie added.

She may have had a reason for only wearing monochrome outfits, but it wasn’t her intention from the start to dress in black exclusively during the awards season.

‘I think it just like happened that way,’ she admitted.

Before gracing the red carpet alongside Timothée in Italy, Kylie had been contemplating a bolder, more vibrant look.

‘I can’t wear another black dress,’ she recalled thinking. 

After that, without a doubt, the stunningly beautiful Schiaparelli black gown appeared, a fact the celebrity confirmed with a chuckle.

The low-cut dress beautifully accentuated her figure, and at the same time, brought focus to her affectionate displays with Timothée.

In a tender gesture, the man from Dune looped an arm around her, placing his hand on her waist, while she gently held onto one of his fingers. Meanwhile, her stylish black dress with intricate patterns perfectly highlighted the pair’s hands.

During award seasons, Timothée often opted for eye-catching ensembles such as a striking yellow leather suit at the Oscars. However, when in Rome alongside Kylie, he donned a sleek double-breasted black velvet suit and a coordinating black shirt without a tie, keeping it classy and chic.

At the 2025 Academy Awards, Kylie showcased slightly more skin by donning a black Miu Miu gown embellished with sparkles. This dress had a triangular opening exposing her midriff and a deep V-neckline that accentuated her neckline, emphasizing her cleavage.

At the Vanity Fair Oscars Party, she sought to draw slightly extra focus by donning a delicate corset-type gown from Ashi Studio, which offered minimal coverage.

Before the Oscars, she made an impressive appearance wearing a vintage John Galliano dress from 1995, featuring sparkling teardrop-shaped sequins, during the BAFTA Film Awards in February.

It seems that Kylie’s distinctive black pattern didn’t become noticeable until after the Golden Globe Awards, which took place on January 5 this year. On that occasion, she opted for a stunning silver gown.

Her leaning towards black was likewise a reversion to traditional practices, since black is historically considered a more conventional, formal color.

Despite many women at award events typically opting for vibrant outfits to stand out against men’s traditional, formal wear, Kylie emphasized the formal origins of these events by choosing to wear black ensembles.

In 2024, there were fewer public appearances with Timothée, yet she made a bold choice by opting for a black ensemble at the 2024 Golden Globes. However, her outfit deviated from her usual style with a more daring sheer patterned design that stood out compared to many of her outfits that year.

At less formal gatherings like the US Open in September 2023, she occasionally donned black attire too. On that occasion, she opted for a black t-shirt that coordinated with Timothée’s all-black outfit.

Nonetheless, Kim Kardashian’s younger sibling has demonstrated her readiness to make a statement even when the limelight isn’t as intense.

At the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, California, in March, Kylie was noticeable when she attended with Timothée. She wore a red, cropped blouse tied off at the waist and adorned with white stripes, which contrasted beautifully with Timothée’s white tracksuit.
