Kylie Gillies reveals the moment she knew her Logies night was going off the rails: 'We're losing it'

As a dedicated follower of Australian television for over three decades, I must say that watching Larry Emdur’s triumphant night at the Logies was nothing short of heartwarming. It’s not every day you see someone like him who has faced countless axings and questionable hosting gigs, finally being recognized as the most popular presenter in the industry.

On Sunday evening, Kylie Gillies from The Morning Show encountered an unexpected furry discovery in her Logies dessert dish.

Just as Larry Emdur was about to receive his Gold Logie on stage, Kylie, aged 57, shared an image on Instagram showing some false eyelashes found in her cheese platter.

She titled the less-than-appealing photo of a perspiring cheese with lash decorations as, “Seems like we’ve passed our peak.”

Later on, Kylie disclosed that it was Edwine Bartholomew from Sunrise news who wore the fake eyelashes instead.

Kylie pointed out, “Here are Edwina Bartholomew’s lashes,” as she moved her camera to show her coworker.

She remarked with a hint of sarcasm, “It doesn’t seem like she should be on TV,” before posing the question to weather presenter Sam Mac, “Ever consider doing something like this, Sam?”

‘Sure. Can you just put them on?’ he jokingly replied.

Sam then hilariously stuck the extra-long lashes to his lids and posed for the camera.

At the glamorous gathering filled with celebrities, Channel Seven’s personalities appeared lively and jubilant. This was the occasion where Larry Emdur, often referred to as Kylie’s professional partner, earned his very first Logie award for the first time.

In an historic triumph, Larry earned the title of the most beloved host by claiming the Bert Newton Award during his inaugural win at The Logies.

In a remarkable achievement, he was later bestowed the title of the winner for the prestigious Gold Logie, having swept all awards during the grand evening.

At the Logies event held in Sydney, the host of The Morning Show joked about the frequent cancellations of his shows throughout the years and his diverse selection of controversial hosting experiences, which left the audience in stitches.

He casually mentioned that since he had won, he would have the initials of all the nominees tattooed on his bottom the following morning, which caused amusement among the crowd.

I’m sorry, dear Sylvie, it seems our scheduled stay at the fancy hotel won’t happen tonight. Instead, I might find myself doing squats for most of the evening.

“[Sunrise host] Nat Barr seemed to be indicating, ‘Sweetheart, I need to wake up in just a quarter of an hour’,” he added, making reference to the almost six-hour-long award event.

‘I love this business so much. I love being in TV, and I’ve never wanted to do anything else.

As a seasoned television personality, I’ve encountered a diverse range of individuals and situations that have shaped my professional journey in unique ways. From sharing the couch with Lindy Klim, a pioneering inventor of a novel face mask for vulvas, to being playfully embraced by a victorious 150kg truck driver on The Price Is Right – moments like these have left indelible impressions on me. And then there’s the label of being the most frequently terminated man in television, an experience that has taught me resilience and adaptability in the face of adversity. Each encounter, challenge, and triumph serves as a testament to the unpredictable nature of life in the limelight.
