Kyle Walker admits he ‘wishes he could bring up his children on a council estate’ to reflect his own working class upbringing

Kyle Walker admits he 'wishes he could bring up his children on a council estate' to reflect his own working class upbringing

As a lifestyle expert with a deep appreciation for the intersection of wealth and humility, I find Kyle Walker’s perspective both refreshing and commendable. His upbringing on a council estate has shaped him into a man who values hard work, resilience, and the importance of grounding his children in reality, despite his substantial wealth.

As a lifestyle expert, I often reflect on my journey and the values that shaped me. Much like Kyle Walker, I too cherish my humble, working-class roots. If given the chance, I would choose to raise my family within the close-knit community of a council estate, mirroring the upbringing that instilled in me resilience, camaraderie, and an appreciation for simple joys.

34-year-old Manchester City star, who reportedly makes £160,000 per week, shared a unique look at his upbringing on his BBC Sounds podcast titled “You’ll Never Beat Kyle Walker”. He emphasized that despite his significant fortune, his sons are not pampered.

Kyle has four sons – Roman (age 11), Riaan (7), Reign (5), and a four-month-old named Rezon – with his spouse Annie Kilner. Additionally, he has a four-year-old son named Kairo and a 12-month-old daughter Kinara from his relationship with Lauryn Goodman.

Despite a net worth of £27 million, Kyle said that his boys have ‘have to entertain themselves’.

He currently enjoys luxurious items, but when it comes to amusement for the children, they are left to their own devices, mostly playing with each other. This is according to his statement.

He mentioned, “Sometimes, I long for the chance to place them in diverse surroundings, allowing them to interact with a variety of individuals and make new friends, much like what I missed out on while growing up by having to call my friends over.”

Kyle spent his childhood at Lansdowne Estate in Sheffield, and he’s often spoken about how his upbringing influenced his approach to parenthood.

The athlete confessed that earlier, he strongly disliked his father’s way of bringing him up, but he ensures not to let his kids win during their backyard soccer games these days.

He shared that he disliked attending football games with his father. Regardless of whether he played well or poorly, he would end up crying as soon as they got into the car together.

His dad Michael, was originally from Jamaica and moved to England in his late teens, meeting his mum Tracey shortly after.

Kyle went on to say: ‘I don’t hold him accountable for that, as it has shaped me into the person and athlete I am today. I’ve always had a desire to disprove others, and during my career’s early stages, I was trying to prove Dad wrong. He did it out of care.

In our backyard football matches, I ensure that my children don’t always emerge victorious. I believe that if I continue to let them win, their first real taste of defeat might prove too difficult for them. Instead, I strive to instill in them the spirit of competition by playing with all my heart, hoping it will shape them into resilient individuals and future winners.

My grandparents hailed from Jamaica and, at the age of 17, they left my father in England with a washer and £200 as inheritance. Thus, I received this legacy from my dad.

In my pursuit of variety, I strive to avoid repetition as much as feasible. However, when it comes to lessons about triumph and success, I make an effort to impart those valuable insights to the young boys in my care.

Reflecting on life in the apartment complex, Kyle reminisced about instances of fire and deceased individuals, yet there are moments when he yearns to settle his children in a housing estate.

He recounted: ‘A guy had petrol through the door and someone chucked a match in. It was three floors up, the caretakers held a blanket underneath and were catching children as their mum threw them down. She died in there.’

At the moment, Kyle’s struggling to preserve his bond with Annie, aged 32, due to him having not just one but two kids with Lauryn while they were married.

After the truth came to light, Annie evicted him from their $5.32 million country estate in Cheshire, forcing Kyle to rent a place for the next six months.

According to a source, Kyle is currently splitting his time between his apartment and his family home while he and Annie are working through their relationship issues.

Currently, I’m temporarily residing elsewhere since I signed a six-month lease on an apartment back in January after parting ways with Annie. (First person)

In order to continue addressing the ongoing situation, he’s chosen to divide his time between the two locations. This way, he can stay near his job and training while still keeping ties with his family.

As a seasoned parent myself, I can attest that shared experiences, especially during challenging times, hold immense value for families. The summer spent by Annie, Kyle, and their boys together seemed to have been a therapeutic journey for them all. The camaraderie they built during those warm, sunny days not only provided a fun-filled escape but also served as a platform for them to address their troubles collectively.

They’re still planning for what their life together as a family will be like, keeping their children as their top priority.

In July, Lauryn’s child maintenance dispute with the footballer ended unfavorably for her following several challenging months.

During an interview with The Sun on Sunday, the influencer characterized Kyle as someone who desires to “enjoy the benefits while also partaking in them,” and instead of being branded as a “gold-digger,” she is merely acting in the best interests of their shared children.

At times, I can feel weary from all the criticism, yet I have no regrets about standing up for my children’s financial wellbeing against a careless father.

Last month, an extraordinary court judgement saw Lauryn accused of using Kyle as an ‘open ended cheque book and of having ‘repeatedly threatened him in order to get what she wanted’.

She asserted that despite the portrayal in her latest court case suggesting a person driven by unquenchable avarice and incessant desire for wealth, she insisted that her financial stability comes from her career as an influencer and frequent guest spots on television programs.
