Kyle Sandilands has said he might leave his very successful radio program because new, strict rules have been put in place for the Australian Radio Network (ARN).
The 54-year-old host says the activist group Mad Fing Witches is responsible for the scrutiny his show is receiving from the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA).
He claimed the group was prompting listeners to complain about The Kyle & Jackie O Show, and confessed he no longer felt motivated to defend his own program.
As I shared on my show this morning, there’s a particular activist group – honestly, a trio of older women – who are really pushing hard to silence me. They’ve made it clear they want me off the air, and they’re actively trying to get my broadcast stopped. It’s a concerning situation, but I’m committed to continuing to share my perspective.
I’ve reached a point where I feel secure – they’re obligated to keep me on for another 9.3 years, or they’ll have to pay a significant penalty, regardless of the circumstances.
Honestly, I’ve learned that giving up isn’t the answer. It’s so easy to think, ‘What’s the point of even trying?’ and just walk away. But I’ve discovered that pushing through, even when it’s tough, is almost always worth it. I refuse to believe I need to just accept defeat without a fight. I always finish what I start.

In 2023, Kyle and his co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson re-signed with the publicly traded company for another 10 years in a deal reportedly worth over $200 million.
He dreamed of finishing his work today and finally being able to enjoy life – raising his child and perhaps even buying a castle in France, he added.
Kyle went on to say he no longer cares enough to ‘fight back’, adding: ‘I’m happy to leave.’
Newsreader and producer Brooklyn Ross said: ‘I don’t want you to leave.’
‘I don’t really want to leave. I enjoy this,’ Kyle replied.
What’s the point of trying to defend yourself when you’re restrained and someone is allowed to attack you without consequence?
When Kyle threatened to quit, listeners became worried, and a producer announced that they had a lot of people waiting to speak on the air.
Radio personality Kyle Sandilands and his co-host, Jackie O, heard from several listeners who pleaded with Kyle not to retire from radio.

One listener shared that the hosts help them cope with difficult home life each morning. They explained they listen while driving and asked, ‘Kyle, please keep fighting for people like us.’
‘You guys are the backbone of that show you guys got going,’ added another.
This follows a decision by Australia’s media regulator to impose stricter rules on KIIS FM after several incidents caused controversy during live broadcasts.
On Wednesday, the ACMA announced its decision that Kyle and Jackie O had repeatedly violated standards of decency by broadcasting crude and sexually suggestive material.
The show now faces stricter rules about what it can broadcast. It must avoid anything considered extremely offensive or containing explicit sexual content that could upset viewers.
According to the ACMA, a program can be considered to have sexual content with just one instance of it – it doesn’t need to happen repeatedly. This includes anything said, hinted at, or any sounds that would be understood as sexually suggestive.
The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has directed KIIS FM’s owner, Double T Radio Pty Ltd, to hire an independent expert to review how the station operates and ensures it follows the rules.
The decision comes after several incidents where staff were caught on camera urinating. Radio hosts Kyle and Jackie O then played a game trying to identify which recording belonged to which employee.
In another broadcast, graphic remarks were made about menstruation and oral sex.
The show included discussions about sensitive topics like masturbation and pornography, and one contestant used offensive language while describing a sexual act on the radio.
This is another setback for the well-known hosts, who have already violated broadcasting rules 12 times this year.
