Kyle Sandilands was back on Australian Idol on Monday night after a protracted unexplained absence.
The radio personality from KIIS FM offered some critical feedback while contestant Charlie Moon was performing “With a Little Help from My Friends.”
Sandilands praised the performance, highlighting the excellent song choice, beautiful vocals, and positive message about the importance of friendship and support.
Sandilands seemed to be talking about a disagreement he had with his co-host, Jackie ‘O’ Henderson from The Kyle and Jackie O Show.
I’ve had a difficult week, mainly because I had a disagreement with a close friend,” Kyle shared. However, he did enjoy Moon’s performance very much.
Fans have noticed Kyle Sandilands hasn’t been on Australian Idol lately, leading to questions about whether he’ll be back on the Channel Seven show.
He wasn’t on air after a recent disagreement with Jackie ‘O’ Henderson during their show, The Kyle & Jackie O Show on KIIS FM.
The 54-year-old radio personality hadn’t appeared on the last five audition shows, and the reason for his absence wasn’t shared with viewers. During this time, singer Jessica Mauboy, who finished as a runner-up in 2006, filled in as a judge.
Kyle was likely missing from episodes filmed on the evening of February 20th, just hours after a heated argument with his co-star Jackie led to her departure from the show.
Okay, so everyone’s talking about what’s happening with the ‘Kyle and Jackie O Show’ right now, and there’s a lot of speculation. From what I’m hearing behind the scenes, though, don’t expect to see Kyle Sandilands disappearing anytime soon. He’s weathering the storm and seems determined to stay on the air.
Normally, the radio personality escapes to his luxurious Los Angeles home when the media focuses on him. However, this time he’s being prevented from leaving Australia.
The reason? His judging role on Australian Idol.
People familiar with the situation say Kyle Sandilands’ deal with Channel Seven prevents him from traveling internationally during this season.
Even though the singing competition is still broadcasting live shows, the network wants the controversial personality to stay in Australia and continue judging, as previously agreed.
According to a source, Kyle typically leaves town when problems arise, preferring to let the situation calm down before returning.
‘But Idol has locked him in place. He has obligations, and Seven expects him to honour them.’
ARN, the company that owns KIIS FM, announced last week they’ve ended Jackie Henderson’s $100 million contract. This came after she informed management she could no longer work with Kyle Sandilands, following his on-air remarks that upset her greatly.
Sandilands has been temporarily suspended and has 14 days to fix the issue that led to the suspension. If he doesn’t, he could be fired.
ARN sent Sandilands a written notice explaining they believe his actions on the February 20th show were a serious violation of his contract with Quasar Media.
According to The Australian, Kyle Sandilands is threatening legal action against ARN if they cancel his $100 million contract after the cancellation of his KIIS FM show, ‘The Kyle & Jackie O Show’. He has reportedly hired lawyers to prepare a lawsuit.
