Kyle & Jackie O React to ABC Radio Host’s Shocking On-Air Strip Club Comment
Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O Henderson have shared their thoughts on the sexually explicit remark made by Bob Murphy during his ABC radio show on Wednesday.
Previously, the ex-captain of the Western Bulldogs, at 42 years old, left listeners astounded by making an unusual comparison to a Melbourne nightclub known for its adult entertainment, during his chat with co-host Sharnelle Vella.
On Thursday, Kyle (age 53) and Jackie (age 50) expressed their viewpoint, stating they found it hard to understand the commotion.
Kyle stated that he was emphasizing the fact that she earns an honest living through hard work, and not by using her body on adult entertainment platforms such as OnlyFans or strip clubs.
‘I don’t think it was a big deal. Do you find it offensive?’ he asked his co-star.
Jackie concurred with Kyle, noting that the remark appeared exceptionally incongruous, given it was broadcast on ABC.
She understood the humor, but she believes that they are judged by a higher standard, and such remarks aren’t typically expected from them.
‘On the ABC it’s probably really jarring for their audience.’
The radio host also mentioned that, while such a remark wouldn’t upset her individually, she couldn’t guarantee the same reaction from all women.
Jackie stated, ‘I won’t take offense to what was said, but I’m not her, so I can’t speak on her behalf.’
Brooklyn Ross, the newsreader, noted that an audible gasp seemed to echo during airtime after Bob made his off-color remark. To verify this, the radio team replayed the audio and indeed, a shocked response could be discerned.
On a Wednesday, Murphy and Vella were talking about why it’s wise to consult with certified financial and tax advisors rather than relying on advice from social media personalities on the internet.
The show invited Elinor Kasapidis, who holds the position of Chief of Policy, Standards & External Affairs at CPA Australia, as a guest to discuss the topic at hand.
Following an extended conversation on the subject, Vella started putting forth her viewpoint that certain individuals might not have the means to acquire professional financial advice and instead might turn to social media for help in handling their personal tax filings independently.

She began by referring to when she landed her first job out of high school.
Vella said: ‘I remember when I worked in retail many moons ago when I was still in high school…’
But Murphy quickly interjected, saying: ‘Not at Spearmint Rhino?’
Vella firmly replied, “No,” after a brief pause, then elaborated, “Since I couldn’t afford the services of a financial advisor, I ended up handling my tax returns on my own.
She speculated that might be the reason behind checking social media, then turned to Kasapidis and inquired if she had any useful tips for those aiming to file their taxes independently.
As a devoted admirer, I’d like to highlight that I’m associated with a chain of establishments known as Spearmint Rhino, which are renowned for their presence across various locations such as Australia, the United Kingdom, and the USA. These venues cater to a unique ambiance, typically recognized as strip clubs.
Daily Mail Australia hasn’t made any assertion about Vella working at a strip club, and it seems Murphy’s remarks were intended humorously.
Daily Mail Australia has contacted ABC for comment.

Murphy, a well-regarded footballer who has been named All-Australian twice, has experienced a rocky beginning this year in his fresh position, as the breakfast show saw a drop in its ratings from a 7.9% to a 6.3% market share in March.
Previously this year, the ex-AFL standout, aged 42, encountered criticism from fellow radio host Tom Elliott, who accused him of being ‘aware’ or ‘enlightened,’ following his use of the term ‘AFLM’ to refer to the highest level of Australian rules football in the AFL competition.
‘Does anybody else honestly want to call the AFL the AFLM?,’ Elliott said on 3AW Mornings.
‘In America, you have the NBA and then the WNBA, that works fine.
It seems like Murphy is the sole individual who maintains this practice. He continues to refer to the AFL as the AFLM, which some might find an expression of awareness.
In simpler terms, it’s worth noting that Murphy, who retired in 2017 and played for the Western Bulldogs 312 times, was reportedly late for his Friday, April 11th breakfast radio show. This meant he missed the start of the show, leaving Vella without her usual co-host.
He overslept, as his alarm didn’t ring, causing him to arrive at the studio 45 minutes past the scheduled 5:30 am live broadcast start time.
As the show started, Sharnelle Vella and Bob Murphy were mentioned, but she informed listeners that today, she’s all by herself.

‘People are texting about where Bob is. He will be here shortly, no one panic.’
When Bob did turn up, he revealed what had happened live on air.
It appears as though the phone charger got slightly loose during the night. Suddenly, my dear one exclaimed, “It’s 5:30 in the morning.
Previously, the notable Western Bulldogs player expressed regret and apologized to his audience, saying, “I feel as though I’ve disappointed you. It was inevitable, I guess.
Vella, though, poked fun at her co-host, joking: ‘I’m off to the shops to buy him a charger.’
