Kristin Davis was once set up on a blind date with a cast member from the show Friends.
That lucky star was the late actor Matthew Perry.
In more casual, conversational terms: The actress from Sex and the City remembered a time when their mutual lawyer friend set them up on a blind date, unfortunately, this friend passed away at the age of 54 in 2023.
On the “Are You A Charlotte?” podcast on iHeartRadio, she mentioned that while he isn’t her attorney, he’s an agreeable one, and she has been introduced to Matthew Perry by some means.
This appears to be reminiscent of around the late 90s, possibly ’97, ’98, or ’99. It seems to me that this event transpired sometime between my work on Melrose Place (before I joined Sex and the City) and it took place at a residential location. It was an intimate gathering, almost casual, as we hosted a dinner party there.
At the gathering, there were many individuals from the Hollywood scene, yet she finds herself unable to recall any of the other attendees.

She added: ‘I don’t even know who was there other than this lawyer and Matthew.’
Kristin found it pleasant conversing with the actor from Friends, who shared insights about his time working on the popular sitcom.
She remembered: “Matthew is wonderful, he’s my neighbor, and he’s sharing how excited he is, how content the Friends crew is, and he recently worked with Salma Hayek on a movie.
‘I was like, ‘Wow, he’s so happy.’
Despite lacking any romantic undertones, their discussion provoked her to ponder deeply about her professional path.
She explained: ‘I had been around Melrose and it wasn’t the happiest place in a way.
Fifteen actors were main cast members. Due to the high level of competition, everyone felt on edge as if their role could be reduced or even eliminated.”
By rephrasing the original sentence, I aimed to make the text more natural while conveying the same meaning. This revised version should be easier for a wider audience to understand.
Initially, things might have taken a turn, for Kristin initially tried out for the part of Monica, who ended up marrying Chandler Bing (Matthew’s character), but unfortunately didn’t get selected.
As a seasoned lifestyle connoisseur, allow me to share an intriguing anecdote. In my early days, I was fortunate enough to be among roughly 8,000 budding ladies who had the pleasure of perusing a script that eventually landed in the hands of none other than Monica and Courteney Cox.

Kristin and Courteney were attending the same yoga class concurrently, and they also enjoyed spending time together socially. Additionally, Kristin can vividly recall Courteney’s response upon securing the role.
As a die-hard fan bursting with excitement, I’d put it this way: “Boy, oh boy! One thrilling day, Courteney tossed us an invitation that left us speechless – ‘Hey gang, fancy joining me for a car shopping spree?’ Needless to say, we jumped at the chance, practically shouting ‘Car shopping!’ in unison!
Courteney shared that she had completed a pilot and was feeling quite optimistic about it. She mentioned that she might treat herself to a new Porsche as a result.
‘We were like, “Wow, is she for real?” It was Friends, and it did go very well.’
