Kristin Cavallari reflects on her initial pregnancy, recalling the concerns of her doctor who anticipated that her baby might not survive.
On her “Let’s Be Honest” podcast, the 38-year-old ex-celebrity from The Hills revealed on Tuesday that her medical professional became anxious when she visited the hospital due to contractions, as hospital staff initially struggled to detect her baby’s heartbeat.
As a fervent admirer, I couldn’t help but be swept away by her candid recounting of the birthing process. She vividly described it as if I was splitting apart myself, feeling that intense sensation of being torn in two.
Although the circumstances at the hospital were quite intense, Kristin ultimately delivered a healthy baby boy in 2012, who is now 13 years old and goes by the name Camden. She co-parents Camden with her former husband, Jay Cutler, who is currently 42 years old.
Recently, the two individuals have been exchanging sharp comments following Kristin’s assertion that she hasn’t received any money from her former partner.
In her most recent podcast, Kristin shared that she started experiencing pre-labor symptoms a couple of days ahead of schedule, including what seemed like contractions but turned out to be false ones.

Once the real contractions began, Kristin described them as ‘brutal.’
‘The contractions were really bad, I have to say,’ she added.
She remembered that her former spouse was keeping track of her labor pains, but rather than alleviating her worries, it enraged her when he said the intervals between contractions were too long for a hospital visit to be necessary.
‘I was like, “F*** off,”‘ Kristin chuckled. ‘”Literally f*** off.”‘
She mentioned that they consulted with her doctor for a second opinion, and upon learning about Kristin’s significant distress during a contraction over the phone, they advised her and Jay to immediately go to the hospital.
However, Kristin expressed a sense of disquiet as she perceived the doctor appeared somewhat tense following their initial encounter.
It wasn’t until later that her husband revealed what had unsettled the doctor. As stated by the former Chicago Bears quarterback, medical staff initially couldn’t find a heartbeat in Camden upon her arrival at the hospital.
Kristin confessed, “I’m grateful I wasn’t aware of that situation, as it would have caused me great anxiety.

She also delved into the realities of how painful her birth was.
Despite choosing an epidural, a method she used in all three of her pregnancies, it doesn’t entirely alleviate labor pain, allowing mothers to retain sufficient muscle control for assisting during childbirth.
Kristin confessed her desire for a more “unassisted” childbirth experience, preferring it over delivering in a hospital with pain relief drugs, yet she recognized that she wouldn’t have been able to forego the epidural.
She expressed that if she were to give birth today, she would approach things differently. However, she also recalled feeling strongly during that time, saying something along the lines of, “I don’t need to prove myself, I know I’m strong, and right now, I just need that epidural.
She reflected, “In an ideal world, if I were giving birth today, it would be a water birth and I’d go through it all naturally. But I was struggling, even with Cam. In the end, we should always remember not to judge other mothers or women about their birthing choices, as pain is subjective for everyone.
The celebrity explained that the epidural successfully alleviated the pain during her contractions, yet she still felt as though her vagina was tearing apart in a very literal sense.
‘I was still f***ing suffering,’ she said.
Subsequently, Kristin detailed her efforts to alleviate the distress shortly following the delivery.

‘I lived with those ice packs on the coochie-coo,’ she shared.
Although enduring considerable discomfort and having reservations about the doctor’s personality, Kristin characterized her labor as relatively straightforward, lasting approximately 20 minutes of focused effort.
She confessed that it felt as if she was delivering the baby, much like passing a large stool. Alternatively, she acknowledged that it felt very much like expelling the baby.
Kristin characterizes her upcoming pregnancies with her 11-year-old son Jaxon and 9-year-old daughter Saylor as being noticeably less tense, as she was induced on each occasion.
She found her pregnancy with Jaxon quite smooth, she mentioned. She didn’t remember experiencing that intense sensation of labor pains like tearing, and although she had concerns about navigating traffic to reach the hospital since they resided in bustling Chicago at the time, it turned out to be a relatively minor issue.
In the case of her third pregnancy, Kristin decided to be artificially started into labor so that her baby would arrive on the Monday just prior to Thanksgiving since she was expected to give birth around the holiday season.
Kristin confessed that she felt uncomfortable with the idea of having her mother present during childbirth. Although she deeply loves her mom, she expressed a preference for her husband’s presence instead. She also explained that she did not wish to face the experience alone and extended her apologies, stating her desire for her husband to be there with her.
Kristin and Jay split in 2020, and their divorce was finalized two years later.
