Kristen Stewart would return for a new Twilight movie – with a twist

Wow, it’s been over a decade since the last Twilight movie came out in 2012, so it’s not shocking to hear people are already buzzing about a reboot – basically, a fresh take on Stephanie Meyer’s books. Honestly, I always got the feeling Kristen Stewart had a tough time as Bella Swan. She was thrown into the spotlight so quickly, and all the attention on her and Robert Pattinson’s relationship back then must have been crazy.

She isn’t ruling out involvement with the show entirely, and has expressed interest in returning – though she wouldn’t want to act in it again.

So, I was chatting with Entertainment Tonight at the Palm Springs Film Festival – they gave me a ‘director to watch’ award for my film, The Chronology of Water, which was awesome – and they asked me the big question: would I ever consider directing a Twilight movie? It was a bit surreal, honestly!

You won’t believe it, but I was literally just chatting with a friend about that movie! It’s always on TV around the holidays, and we were wondering how it holds up after all these years. My friend told me their family watches it every Christmas, and I was totally surprised!

“I love with Catherine [Hardwicke] did, I love with Chris [Weitz] did,” she continued.

I really enjoyed the directors’ unique visions in these films. They felt very authentic and a little unconventional, capturing a raw energy from a time before they became famous and fully realized their styles.

If I had the resources and backing I need, I’d definitely revisit and remake this project. I’m fully on board and dedicated to making it happen.

Stewart’s first film as a director, The Chronology of Water, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last year. It had a limited release in US theaters before Christmas and will be available in more theaters later this week.

In addition to her other projects, she’ll be acting with Seth Rogen in a movie she helped write, called The Wrong Girls. She’s also joining Pedro Pascal in Flesh of the Gods, a vampire thriller set in the 1980s.

Netflix announced an animated series based on Twilight in 2024, but there haven’t been any updates about it since.

In the UK, you can currently watch all five Twilight movies on Disney+. Prime Video has the first two films and the first part of Breaking Dawn. You can also watch Eclipse for free on YouTube, and Breaking Dawn: Part 2 is available on Lionsgate+.

The latest issue of Living Legends magazine is now available, and it’s a special tribute to Dolly Parton! You can find ‘Dolly at 80’ in shops that sell magazines or order it online for only £8.99.
