Kris Marshall reveals which Love Actually co-star is joining the cast of his hit BBC series Beyond Paradise – and shares how viewers can guess the killer in every episode
Kris Marshall is in Australia promoting the new season of hit BBC series Beyond Paradise.
In an interesting turn of events, the British star from Beyond Paradise hints at the appearance of a well-known character in the upcoming episodes of the murder mystery series.
In a recent statement, Marshall, known for his role in the 2003 movie “Love Actually,” mentioned that his on-screen buddy Abdul Salis, who portrayed Tony in the film, is set to feature in an upcoming production titled “Beyond Paradise.
‘I had only seen him once in 24 years’ the 52-year-old said on Sunday’s episode of The Project.
Acting is a marvelous aspect of life. Once you step onto the stage or in front of the camera, it feels like continuing from where you last left off. There’s something almost harmonious about it that I find captivating. I truly enjoy it.

‘He dropped by and performed as a guest, and over time, we’ve all grown a little older. However, wisdom doesn’t seem to have increased much among us. Nonetheless, everyone is doing well.’
In the episode, it seemed like Marshall was subtly suggesting that Salis might not turn out to be the culprit. However, he held back, avoiding to reveal too many details.
‘I don’t think he’s… I’m not going to give any spoilers!’ he said with a laugh.
Additionally, Marshall provided significant hints for solving each case within the mystery murder series available on BritBox Down Under, for those following along at home.
In a playful manner, he pointed out that viewers often predict the identity of the culprit in each episode before his character, the seemingly inept Detective Inspector Humphrey Goodman, solves the case – and there’s a foolproof method to deduce who committed the crime.
Initially, I employed a method I referred to as the Scooby Doo approach – it often involves the second character encountered. However, I acknowledged that some scenarios can be intricate and not always follow this pattern.
He found out that our viewers are more skilled at solving mysteries than he is, which strikes him as strange. Remarkably, he has the scripts in hand, but he admitted to being terribly inept at it.
Initially, Marshall took on the role of Detective Goodman in the highly successful BBC show, Death in Paradise. He later reprised this character in its well-liked spinoff, Beyond Paradise, and now, it’s back for its third season.

27-year-old actor, Colin Frissell, portrayed the hapless dandy character in the 2003 film “Love Actually.” This role significantly boosted his popularity.
His personality finds itself in Wisconsin, a place where his British accent intriguingly leads him to share intimate moments with January Jones, Elisha Cuthbert, Denise Richards, and Shannon Elizabeth.
In 2014, Marshall replaced Ben Miller as the lead of the murder mystery series set on a Caribbean island. His impressive performance drew high viewership numbers, leading to the creation of “Beyond Paradise,” which was tailored especially for him in the rainy region of Devon.
Yet when he first auditioned for Death in Paradise in 2013 they turned him down flat.
‘I didn’t even make the final four,’ he says.
Freshly wedded, having a newborn child just three months old, and with his American television series “Traffic Light” wrapping up, he found himself in need of employment.
After a ten-day wait, they called to confess their error, an admission that transformed the course of my life for the next decade.
Despite a decline in television viewership overall, the series Death in Paradise consistently attracts over seven million viewers per episode.
