KRAFTON eyes PUBG Universe expansion with a new Mobile title and 3 PC and Console titles
Story Highlights
- KRAFTON is developing four titles tied into PUBG Universe, each targeting different platforms and gameplay styles.
- The only mobile game in development is a hybrid casual title aimed at younger audiences.
- Mobile was KRAFTON’s highest-earning platform, with KRW 1,689.8 billion in revenue for 2024.
It’s no secret that if you ask someone to mention a mobile battle royale game, chances are they’ll bring up PUBG Mobile. This game has amassed such a large fanbase since its launch that it’s difficult for other games to match its success. The creators, KRAFTON, aiming to expand this player base, have four new titles in development within the PUBG Universe.
KRAFTON has disclosed their projected earnings for the financial year 2024 and the fourth quarter of 2024, providing insights into the next five years of their intellectual property (IP) portfolio within their gaming franchise. As per the information revealed, there are currently four distinct projects underway, each tailored to a unique gameplay style and platform.
The only mobile game in development is a hybrid casual title aimed at younger audiences
To start off, we have “Black Budget,” a first-person shooter for PC computers. Following that is “Blindspot (ARC),” a tactical top-down shooter, again for PC. For console gamers, there’s a work-in-progress game called “Valor,” which falls under the battle royale genre. Lastly, for mobile gaming enthusiasts, there’s an as-yet unnamed project categorized as a hybrid casual game.
Moving forward, the new mobile game deviates from KRAFTON’s standard PUBG combat games. Instead, it’s designed for a future generation of players, featuring a more laid-back and accessible gaming experience. I anticipate that it will blend straightforward, user-friendly gameplay mechanics with complex aspects for a richer gaming experience.

It’s puzzling that despite Mobile being KRAFTON’s top revenue generator, it’s only receiving one game. Last year in 2024, KRAFTON saw a significant boost in mobile revenue compared to the previous year, reaching approximately KRW 1,689.8 billion ($1.16 billion), marking a 35.7% increase from 2023. A more defined plan for the new project might have stirred up more anticipation, but it seems that the company has its strategic reasons.
KRAFTON has been actively trying to expand the PUBG Universe
For quite some time now, KRAFTON has been dedicated to growing the PUBG Universe, yet not all the plans they unveiled have reached gamers. In 2021, alongside the release of New State, there were larger aspirations on the horizon, such as webtoons, short animated pieces, and even a survival-horror spinoff titled The Callisto Protocol, which would be linked to the PUBG storyline. Additionally, discussions about a PUBG Cowboy project featuring an animated series and a television show also surfaced.

Additional notable points from the report highlighted the company’s dedication to significant investments as the proprietor of IP, with the ultimate goal of establishing a durable and cherished franchise. Furthermore, they strive to deliver engaging gaming experiences for PUBG players on PC, consoles, and mobile devices. As part of their expansion plan, the creation of Palworld Mobile is incorporated into their growth strategy, which we can refer to as enhancing creativity.
