KRAFTON could rename Dark and Darker Mobile after ending IP contract

As a devoted fan, I’ve learned that Krafton and Ironmace have reportedly decided to end their licensing agreement for the Dark and Darker intellectual property. This potential move could mean that Krafton might release its upcoming RPG, currently known as Dark and Darker Mobile, under a new name.
As the Dark and Darker Mobile closes in on launch, a different name becomes a dilemma
According to MTN, KRAFTON recently terminated their agreement and informed their teams on the same day. The game, previously known as Project AB and developed by Bluehole Studio (a subsidiary of Krafton), underwent a change after KRAFTON secured the exclusive global license for Dark and Darker Mobile in August 2023.
After conducting several closed beta tests, Dark and Darker Mobile started a soft launch phase in Canada and the USA around now, with an official release scheduled for February 5, 2025, in these regions. Following this initial rollout, it was originally intended to have a full release in the first half of 2025.
As a dedicated fan, I’m excited about this shift as the game prepares to advance under a fresh identity. Yet, the responsibility of rebranding it before its grand debut lies with Krafton. Rebranding isn’t a walk in the park, especially since the game seems reminiscent of the PC release from initial observations.
At present, neither KRAFTON nor Ironmace have made any public announcement concerning a potential name change for Dark and Darker Mobile. It remains unclear how they plan to address this issue, which could lead to a postponement of the game’s launch. I will continue to monitor developments and share updates as they become available, so please stay tuned.
