Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami performed their song “Golden” on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
The singers behind the popular animated group Huntr/x from “KPop Demon Hunters” performed the movie’s main song, “Golden,” on a late-night TV show Tuesday. It was their first time performing the song live as a group, and host Jimmy Fallon was thrilled to have them.
The song “Golden” made history as the first K-pop song by a female artist to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and now the soundtrack it’s featured on has gone platinum. Fallon shared the news with the artists Ejae, Nuna, and Ami during their appearance on the show.

Those who believe in the future of large movie theaters are hoping events like the special screenings of “KPop Demon Hunters” will show Netflix’s Ted Sarandos is wrong – that releasing movies in theaters first could actually help the streaming service. But it’s unlikely to happen.

The group described the incredible response to “KPop Demon Hunters” using words like “surreal,” “amazing,” and “wild,” clearly overwhelmed by its popularity.
Nuna, the singer for Mira, explained that they always strive to use fresh and unique descriptive words each time they perform.
After a quick appearance on the season premiere of “Saturday Night Live,” Nuna and Ami (who sings as Zoey) appeared on “The Tonight Show.” During their interview with Jimmy Fallon, they shared personal stories about the song “Golden” and how it showed them how much of an impact their group, KPop Demon Hunters, was having.
Nuna experienced this moment while traveling in Korea, when she watched an older street musician play the song “Golden” on a traditional Korean instrument.
Nuna explained that receiving praise from an older person is particularly meaningful in Korean culture. Korean elders aren’t easily impressed – even achievements like going to an Ivy League school or being a top student rarely get a reaction. Because they have such high expectations, when an older generation shows approval, it feels especially significant.

The popular animated movie, which has already been successful on streaming, will now be shown in theaters with special sing-along events, and is expected to draw large crowds. However, Netflix has announced it won’t be sharing how much money the theatrical showings earn.
Ami had a sweet experience with a young fan. She remembered being at an H Mart and seeing a little boy enthusiastically singing her song “Golden” while holding his mother’s hand.
Ami explained that hearing her song on the radio was one thing, but hearing a child sing it live, especially at her beloved H Mart, was incredibly moving. It actually made her cry while she was there.
Ejae, meanwhile, offered an anecdote that suggests “Golden’s” success may have been preordained.
I was so fascinated to hear that while recording her vocals for ‘Golden,’ the songwriter actually saw something spooky! Apparently, she caught a quick glimpse of what she described as a ‘grunge ghost’ while she was at the studio. It’s such a cool and unexpected story behind the making of the song!
Ejae described him as a tall man wearing a flannel shirt and blue jeans. This quick meeting might have been a good sign.
She recalled her mom telling her about a Korean music industry superstition: seeing a ghost or experiencing something paranormal during a recording session is believed to mean the song will be successful.
