KPop Demon Hunters Just Set A Wild Netflix Record, And I Think It’s Crazy We Haven’t Seen A Sequel Announcement
If I got a nickel for every 2025 movie that unexpectedly succeeded by blending supernatural folklore with music, I’d have two nickels. That might not seem like much, but given the films in question are Sinners and KPop Demon Hunters, I’m content to have earned that dime for framing them. I’m perfectly satisfied without a follow-up to writer/director Ryan Coogler’s genre-bending masterpiece, as the story was so meticulously crafted that it doesn’t necessitate a sequel.
In contrast, KPop is just a piece of the larger narrative that directors/co-writers Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans have been building up in numerous interviews. The Sony Pictures Animation production already seemed destined for popularity, but the escapades of Huntr/x have smashed a unique Netflix viewership record, leaving me surprised we haven’t heard about a sequel yet.
KPop Demon Hunters Still Doesn’t Have A Sequel Announcement
If you’re a Netflix user, chances are you’ve watched the movie we’re talking about at least once. But if not, I’ve prepared a case on why you should check out KPop Demon Hunters, just for you. Before you go, though, let me share with you Netflix’s explanation of why its return to the top spot in the US is so impressive:
(Netflix’s official announcement)
This film’s comeback to #1 in the US Top 10 is a significant accomplishment because… [the rest of the announcement]
Titles streamed on any platform that manage to recapture the top spot after five weeks are definitely worth keeping an eye on. “KPop Demon Hunters” is essentially a hidden box office success in the realm of non-theater releases, as its influence on pop culture has become so pervasive that it’s left an indelible mark on social media to the point where deleted scenes from KPop have become the latest trend.
It’s quite peculiar, being a movie enthusiast like myself, to see no official sequel plans yet, given that the announcement for “The Gray Man” Universe came just four days after the Russo Bros. picture hit theaters in 2022. However, it seems we’re not the only ones hoping for such news, as one of the key figures potentially involved in this potential franchise has expressed her thoughts on the subject.

Arden Cho’s KPop Demon Hunters Sequel Challenge Is Move Rumi Would Be Proud Of
Invite Rumi’s poetic voice to challenge the characters in “KPop Demon Hunters 2”. Actress Arden Cho voiced her modest hope that this series could find its streaming platform as a fitting home for K-pop.
Is it possible for us to remain number one in the rankings until Netflix officially announces a sequel? 🎉 Please, Netflix, can we have a sequel soon? 💕

I apologize if there was any noise during your reading, it might have been me scrambling for the remote controls to restart our viewing of KPop Demon Hunters again. This show is so engaging that we often find ourselves re-watching it.
Certainly!
Although it’s reasonable for those asking questions about KPop Demon Hunters 2 to feel that way, it’s undeniably difficult as well. Since we don’t know when (or even if) the sequel will be announced, maintaining this movie at the top spot for an indeterminate amount of time can seem overwhelming.
If you’re an avid fan of KPop Demon Hunters, I suggest you revisit the movie for an hour and 39 minutes as Arden Cho suggested. For those who are unfamiliar, I would recommend going through that introduction I mentioned earlier before streaming the fight between Huntr/x and the Saja Boys, which is available only on Netflix.
