Knives Out 3 Sets New Franchise Record Rotten Tomatoes Audience Score

The new mystery film, Wake Up Dead Man, has set a new record on Rotten Tomatoes for the Knives Out series. Released on Netflix on December 12, 2025, this is the third film in the series written and directed by Rian Johnson.

The new movie brings back Daniel Craig as the detective Benoit Blanc, and he’s joined by a fantastic group of actors including Josh O’Connor, Andrew Scott, Mila Kunis, Josh Brolin, Kerry Washington, Cailee Spaeny, Jeremy Renner, Daryl McCormack, Thomas Haden Church, and Glenn Close.

Viewers are loving the new movie Wake Up Dead Man! It’s received over 500 verified reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and currently boasts a 94% score on the site’s Popcornmeter. This makes it the highest-rated film in the series so far, surpassing both Knives Out (92%) and Glass Onion (92%).

The audience score for Wake Up Dead Man is currently higher than its critics’ score, though this could change as more reviews come in. It’s earned a “Certified Fresh” rating of 92% on the Tomatometer, making it the second best-reviewed film in the series, falling between Glass Onion (91%) and Knives Out (97%).

Not only is this a record for the Wake Up Dead Man franchise, but the film’s 94% Popcornmeter score is the highest ever for several of its leading actors.

Several big names have achieved their highest Popcornmeter ratings with Wake Up Dead Man. These include Daniel Craig, surpassing his scores for Knives Out and Glass Onion; Glenn Close, beating the 92% rating of Guardians of the Galaxy; Mila Kunis, exceeding the 85% of Goodrich; Jeremy Renner, with a higher score than The Avengers‘ 91%; Kerry Washington, surpassing her 92% from Django Unchained; and Cailee Spaeny, exceeding the 85% rating of Alien: Romulus.

Whether the positive response from audiences and critics will lead to high viewership on Netflix is still uncertain. The first film in the series, Wake Up Dead Man, didn’t perform well in theaters, marking the first time an installment failed to open in the top five domestically over Thanksgiving weekend.

Just because Wake Up Dead Man isn’t getting a theatrical release doesn’t mean it will do poorly on Netflix. The success of Glass Onion as a Netflix exclusive might actually make viewers see this whodunit series as something best enjoyed on the streaming platform.

This suggests many people were waiting to watch it on streaming, and Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery could still climb higher on Netflix’s list of most popular movies.
