Kite Man, The Acolyte finale, The Boys finale, and more new TV this week

As a lifelong fan of animated superheroes and black comedy, I couldn’t be more excited for the upcoming release of “Kite Man: New Line” on Prime Video. Having grown up watching shows like “Batman: The Animated Series” and “The Tick,” I have a soft spot in my heart for quirky, offbeat characters that defy convention. And Kite Man, with his absurd powers and even more absurd personality, is the epitome of that.

In the sweltering heat of summer, temperatures reach their peak and days take on a leisurely pace. Previously, this was a period when television options were limited, leaving viewers eager for the upcoming fall premieres. However, the scenario has changed; summer now offers an abundance of — you’d be surprised! — TV programming.

As a fan, I’m excited to share some superhero options that have caught my attention recently. For Marvel animations, don’t miss out on Hit-Monkey season 2, which is now streaming on Hulu. If DC is more your thing, be sure to check out Kite Man: Hell Yeah! on Max. The Boys season 4 is currently wrapping up on Prime, and trust me, it brings a fresh twist to the superhero genre. Lastly, Netflix hosts Cobra Kai, where Daniel and Johnny’s journey has made them honorary superheroes in my book.

All that in more — here’s the best new TV premieres and finales this week.

New shows on Netflix

Cobra Kai season 6 part 1

Category: Sports Drama
Premiere Date: July 18th
Behind the Scenes: Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg serve as the showrunners/creators
Starring: Ralph Macchio, William Zabka, Courtney Henggeler, among others.

As a passionate gamer and avid fan of Netflix’s originals, I’m thrilled to share that the final chapter of “Cobra Kai” is upon us! This isn’t just the conclusion of an enthralling six-season journey; it’s also the farewell to a cherished film franchise. The end is near, but only the start of the end – we have fifteen episodes in total, with the first five installments set to debut on Thursday. Can’t wait to see how it all unfolds!

The Acolyte finale

Kite Man, The Acolyte finale, The Boys finale, and more new TV this week

As a hardcore Star Wars fan and avid gamer, I’m beyond excited for the upcoming July 1 release of this new series! Created by the brilliant Leslye Headland, it’s going to be an unforgettable journey. The cast is stacked with talented actors like Amandla Stenberg, Manny Jacinto, and Lee Jung-jae – I can hardly wait to see them bring their characters to life!

I, as a devoted fan, have unraveled the truth behind the events on Brendock and understand why Mae harbors intense hatred towards the Jedi. Similarly, I empathize with Sol’s profound sense of guilt regarding the twins. With these heavy emotions at play, it’s intriguing to ponder: Will Manny Jacinto’s Dark Side proposition sway anyone?

New shows on Hulu

Hit-Monkey season 2

Category: Animation featuring superheroes
Air date: July 15
Executive Producers: Will Speck and Josh Gordon
Starring: Fred Tatasciore, Ally Maki, Olivia Munn, among others.

The last time we encountered Hit-Monkey (Fred Tatasciore), his battle had taken a turn for the worse, resulting in him being clandestinely removed from Japan under the assurance of clearing his name. Sadly, Akiko (Olivia Munn) was well on her way to assuming Lady Bullseye’s role, swearing vengeance based on what she had witnessed.

New shows on Max

Kite Man: Hell Yeah!

Animated Comedy-Drama with Superheroes in Black Capes
Air Date: July 18th
Producers: Dean Lorey, Justin Halpern, and Patrick Schumacker
Starring: Matt Oberg, Stephanie Hsu, James Adomian, among others.

I was initially just a comical character in Harley Quinn’s comic book series. But little did I know that my role would expand and I’d become a more prominent figure. Now, I’m thrilled to have my very own show! Hurray for Kite Man! Yes, indeed!

The Boys season 4 finale

Superheroes Gone Astray
Air Date: July 18th
Behind the Scenes: Eric Kripke serves as showrunner/creator
Starring: Antony Starr, Jack Quaid, Karl Urban, among others

The situation is becoming critical for the Boys – I understand your skepticism; after all, they’re always facing challenges. But this time it’s different; a shapeshifter has infiltrated their ranks and the supervirus that was supposed to eliminate supers isn’t fully developed yet. What repercussions will this have on our group of aspiring operatives?

Snowpiercer season 4

As a dedicated gamer, I’m always on the lookout for new and exciting experiences. One upcoming production that has piqued my interest is a dystopian thriller series set to release on July 21. This gripping story is brought to life by the brilliant minds of Josh Friedman and Graeme Manson. And get this, I’ll be joining Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, Mickey Sumner, and other talented actors on this unforgettable journey! Can’t wait to dive into this intriguing world and unravel the mysteries it holds.

In the finale of Season 3, there was a sense of discord and anticipation: Some chose to remain on the Snowpiercer for their safety, while others embarked towards “New Eden” to explore new possibilities. The following episode, titled “Snakes in the Garden,” takes place nine months later. Feel free to interpret that title as you wish.

New shows on Peacock

The Ark season 2

A Space-bound Sci-fi Show
Air Date: July 17, 10 p.m. EDT on SyFy; available the next day on Peacock
Showrunners/Creators: Dean Devlin and Jonathan Glassner
Starring: Christie Burke, Reece Ritchie, Richard Fleeshman, among others.

In the first season of “The Ark,” humans faced numerous challenges as they embarked on a lengthy journey to discover a new habitable planet. The finale left us hanging with an intriguing cliffhanger – let’s just say that space isn’t as vacant as one might assume. Bring on the surprises and potential threats in season 2!
