Kit Harington joins Mark Wahlberg in sequel to hit action-comedy The Family Plan
As a long-time fan of action-comedies and someone who has spent countless hours watching Mark Wahlberg in various high-octane roles, I am genuinely excited about the upcoming sequel to “The Family Plan“. Despite its mixed reception from critics and audiences alike, this film seems to have found its niche audience, much like a well-hidden government assassin living in the suburbs.
“The Family Escapade” (2023) – This upcoming action-comedy finds Mark Wahlberg portraying a suburban husband and father, who’s kept his former life as a top-tier government assassin a secret from his loved ones. However, when his past catches up, he embarks on an unplanned family road trip in their minivan, all while trying to evade the hitmen chasing him. Can he balance dodging bullets and bonding with his family, while keeping audiences chuckling about diaper-changing antics? Most certainly!
Although The Family Plan garnered mixed reactions from both critics and viewers, its viewership was substantial enough for Apple TV+ to produce a sequel. It appears to be one of those streaming-exclusive films that receive considerable viewership but fail to resonate significantly in popular culture. I seldom hear this movie mentioned by others, nor have I discussed it myself. Yet, I find it hard to believe that there aren’t dedicated fans for this film somewhere out there.
It appears that according to Deadline, Kit Harington, known for his role as Jon Snow in Game of Thrones, is set to feature in the sequel of The Family Plan. In this upcoming film, Dan (played by Wahlberg), along with his wife Jessica (Monaghan) and their children Zoe Colletti, Van Crosby, and a baby, will embark on a Christmas trip to Europe. However, it seems likely that their peaceful vacation will be disrupted by individuals such as mobsters, pirates, corrupt officials, or someone else who may have intentions to harm Dan.
As a cinema enthusiast, I’ve got a hunch about Kit Harington’s character – he seems destined to play an intense English gangster with unfinished business against Dan, or perhaps a seemingly ordinary, tea-loving Englishman unwittingly drawn into the dangerous world of Dan and his family as they confront mafia in Trafalgar Square. The plot twists could take us either way!
I confidently believe that “The Family Plan” and its upcoming sequel will resonate deeply with their intended viewers, though I must admit, I’m not entirely sure who they are specifically aimed at. As for Kit Harington, he’s been venturing into an array of diverse roles since his days on “Game of Thrones,” including a villainous character in HBO’s financial drama “Industry.” Starring in “The Family Plan 2: Title TBA” only adds to his growing reputation as a versatile movie star. Unfortunately, we don’t have a release date for the sequel just yet.
