KISS rocker Gene Simmons, 76, seen for first time since bandmate Ace Frehley died and he crashed his car in Malibu

Gene Simmons has been seen for the first time since his KISS bandmate died.

The 76-year-old guitarist was seen at LAX airport wearing a blue denim shirt, skinny jeans, black and red sneakers, and a black cap. She was walking by herself.

It has been a rough month for Simmons.

The musician recently experienced a double blow: the loss of his friend and bandmate, Ace Frehley, who died at 74, and a car accident in Malibu.

Gene Simmons, famous for performing as The Demon in the rock band KISS, was born in Israel.

Gene Simmons was a founding member of the iconic hard rock band Kiss, which he helped start in 1973. He played bass and shared lead vocal duties with the band until their retirement in 2023. Beyond music, he also appeared on television shows such as Gene Simmons Family Jewels and Rock School.

After Ace Frehley passed away at 74, both Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley of KISS remembered him as a uniquely valuable and essential member of the band, calling him an ‘irreplaceable rock soldier’.

The guitarists from KISS have shared heartfelt tributes to their bandmate, who sadly passed away on October 16th after a fall at home. They described themselves as ‘devastated’ by the loss.

Gene and Paul released a statement to The Hollywood Reporter expressing their devastation at the news of Ace Frehley’s passing.

He was a key and unforgettable member of the band during its early, most important years.

He’ll always be remembered as an important part of KISS’s history. I’m thinking of his family – Jeanette, Monique, and everyone who cared about him, as well as our fans everywhere.

Peter Criss, a founding member of KISS, expressed his shock and affection for Ace Frehley in a post on X (formerly Twitter). He included the hashtags #KissArmy, #AceFrehley, #Kiss, and #Spaceman.

In early October, Simmons was taken to the hospital after he drove his car into a parked vehicle.

He was driving his SUV on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu when he reportedly lost consciousness.

Simmons was discharged, and he is said to have told the US TV station NBC4 he was ‘doing fine’.

Gene’s wife, Shannon Tweed, reported to NBC4 Investigates that Gene lost consciousness and his car swerved across multiple lanes of traffic before colliding with another vehicle.

She mentioned his doctors recently adjusted his medication, so he now needs to drink more fluids. However, he doesn’t really like water.

According to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, the singer of “Rock and Roll All Nite” crashed his Lincoln Navigator into a parked vehicle.

Oh my gosh, I just heard the most terrifying news, but thankfully it seems like everything is okay! Someone called 911, and apparently the police and firefighters were there so quickly. TMZ says nobody was hurt, which is such a relief! And get this – Gene is already back at work! Can you believe it? He’s such a pro, even after something that must have been so scary. I’m just breathing a huge sigh of relief right now!

A rep for the star told PEOPLE: ‘Gene is fine and back to work already.’

Simmons’ crash comes just a month before KISS are due to play an ‘unmasked’ show in Las Vegas.

KISS played their farewell concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City in 2023, but the band is reuniting for a special appearance at the KISS Army Storms Vegas convention, taking place November 14-16.

Gene Simmons had previously stated that the concert at Madison Square Garden would be the last time the band would perform wearing their signature makeup.

Oh my god, you guys, I was reading Rolling Stone and Gene Simmons said – and he swore on the Bible, seriously! – that this last tour is it. He said his ancestors wrote the Bible, both the Old and New Testaments, which is just…wow. And he was so firm, he said right there, hand on the Bible, that this will be the last time we ever see KISS in full makeup. Like, ever! I’m trying to stay calm, but this is huge! It’s the end of an era, and he swore it on the most sacred book! I’m devastated and ecstatic all at once!
