It’s sadly been confirmed that Ace Frehley, one of the original guitarists for Kiss, passed away – details that his family first shared a few months ago. As a lifelong fan, it’s just a really tough loss for the music world.
I was so shocked to hear about Ace Frehley’s passing. The official report said he died from injuries to his head after a fall – it was ruled an accident. Apparently, he suffered a brain bleed and some skull fractures. It’s just incredibly sad, and my thoughts are with his family and fans.
Ace Frehley, best known as the original lead guitarist for Kiss, passed away on October 16th at the age of 74, following a recent fall. His family announced his death and shared that they were able to spend his final moments offering him love and support.
We will always treasure our fondest memories of him, his joyful laugh, and the kindness and strength he shared with everyone. His loss is immense and difficult to grasp.

Music
As a huge Kiss fan, I always thought Ace Frehley, with his Spaceman persona, was absolutely key to the band’s explosion into mainstream culture back in the late 70s. He really helped make them everywhere.
Ace Frehley, famous for his Spaceman persona, passed away just under two weeks after cancelling all his concerts for 2025 because of health problems he hadn’t revealed. His tour manager, John Ostrosky, had previously announced Frehley was briefly hospitalized in late September following a small fall in his studio. While he was reportedly doing okay, doctors advised him to rest, leading to the cancellation of a performance at the Antelope Valley Fair.
The musician was one of the founding members of Kiss, playing with the band for roughly ten years. He started the group in New York in 1973 alongside Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, and Peter Criss, and remained until 1982, leaving shortly after Peter Criss did.
The band played its last concert in 2023 and was famous for its over-the-top shows, elaborate costumes, and bold makeup. Though he wasn’t with the group for very long, Ace Frehley was key to developing their energetic and glamorous sound, showcased in hits like “Detroit Rock City,” “Rock and Roll All Nite,” “Strutter,” and “I Was Made for Lovin’ You.” He rejoined his former bandmates for a reunion tour between 1996 and 2002.
The band described Ace Frehley as a vital and unique member during the early, defining years of KISS and its history. They stated he will forever be remembered as part of the band’s legacy, and expressed their condolences to his family, including his wife Jeanette, daughter Monique, and fans worldwide.
The musician, inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014, is remembered by his wife, Jeanette, his daughter Monique, his brother Charles, his sister Nancy, and many nieces and nephews.
