Kirstie Allsopp’s cousin Jamie revives the family’s brewery after 62 years
In reflecting upon the lives of these extraordinary individuals, I am struck by their diverse journeys and the unique bonds they share. Cara Delevingne, a former Bedales boarding school student, has found solace and support in her friendship with Leah Mason. Their shared experiences and mutual encouragement are a testament to the power of camaraderie and the importance of having someone by your side during challenging times.
Ever since I discovered that my beloved Kirstie Allsopp’s kinfolk, specifically her cousin Jamie, breathed new life into our long-dormant family brewery—a place that lay fallow for an astonishing 62 years—I find myself utterly captivated! This isn’t just a story about resurrecting a historical artifact; it’s a tale of passion, heritage, and the indomitable spirit of our kin. I can hardly contain my excitement as I follow their journey, eagerly awaiting each new brew and the stories that come with them.
It seems the ex-hedge fund manager is venturing into a new business – establishing a pub under the same title that was once used by the Allsopps back in the 19th century.
And, intriguingly, it’s on the site of a bar linked to a Donald Trump scandal.
The Blue Stoops, located in west London, is set to occupy the structure that once was home to the Kensington Wine Rooms.
Jamie Allsopp expresses his joy, saying, “For as long as I can remember, I’ve aspired to bring back the beers once brewed by my ancestors. It’s a dream come true for me to open our first pub in nearly a century.”
He does not say if he will retain the blue plaque above the door.
A more casual rephrasing of the ‘Wine Rooms Heritage’ sign might be: “This spot caused some stir for Donald Trump, as a conversation about wine allegedly led to discussions about Russian cyber attacks.”
As a diehard enthusiast, let me delve into the intriguing encounter back in 2016 involving none other than George Papadopoulos, who was then an advisor to the now-President Trump, and Alexander Downer, the former Australian high commissioner. This meeting is a fascinating piece of the puzzle that has kept me captivated!
During the gathering, it was reportedly claimed that Papadopoulos bragged about Russia having damaging political information regarding Hillary Clinton, who would eventually lose the U.S. presidential election to Trump several months afterward.
In simpler terms, Downer shared information he received with authorities in Canberra (Australia), who subsequently notified Washington about the disclosed secrets following WikiLeaks’ public release of Hillary Clinton’s private emails.
It led to allegations of collusion between Russia and Trump’s campaign, and the subsequent Mueller Report.
In 2021, after having a career in finance, Allsopp (a graduate of Eton) decided to switch paths and pursue brewing, following his two children’s birth with ex-wife Jacquetta Wheeler, who is a model.
He bought back the Allsopp trademarks from Carlsberg and BrewDog and turned on the taps at Samuel Allsopp and Sons, founded in 1730.
As a devoted fan, I recall being informed that Kirstie Allsopp from ‘Location, Location, Location’ would receive a unique discount code, allowing her to acquire beer at cost price.
Standing ovation for John’s 90th
As a lifestyle connoisseur, I’m delighted to share that esteemed actor John Standing, known for his captivating performances in beloved series like The Crown and Game of Thrones, celebrates his 90th birthday this coming Friday.
The old baronet I spoke with shares his strategy for maintaining fitness, which involves tapping dance. He explained that he has a tap board in his bedroom and performs some tap dancing every morning as part of his routine to stay in shape.
‘It keeps my ankles loose, too.’
Noel’s guitar goes under the hammer
Noel Gallagher is auctioning off the 1980 Gibson Flying V Guitar that he used during Oasis’ iconic song “Cigarettes and Alcohol” (from 1994) at Sotheby’s for approximately £30,000.
Johnny Marr, the guitarist from The Smiths, generously loaned an axe (six-string instrument) to the aspiring musician when he found himself lacking one.
Will Gallagher recall to share a portion of the earnings with him? Additionally, Marr previously gifted him a 1960 Gibson Les Paul guitar, which was once in the possession of Pete Townshend.
But Gallagher smashed it up tackling a stage invader during a gig in Newcastle.
The guitar-shredding Who man would no doubt have approved.
Cara’s girl posts sea snaps in birthday tribute
Despite facing rough times, Cara Delevingne and Leah Mason are resolute about demonstrating that their bond continues to stay strong.
On Cara, the renowned model, turning 32, her partner Leah (also known as Minke) posted a humorous collection of photos online showcasing them playfully lounging on a float in the ocean.
London-born Leah, also 32, wrote alongside the holiday snaps: ‘Happy birthday baby.
‘I hope we can learn how to use a lilo by the next one.’
In 2022, our paths crossed at the prestigious Bedales School in Hampshire where I was fortunate enough to be a resident. Since then, we’ve been navigating life together, each moment enriching the other.
Cara has credited Leah with helping her stay on the road to sobriety.
Mum-to-be Jagger is spotting image of Jerry
Instead of striving to be distinct from their mothers, model Georgia May Jagger embraces comparisons to Jerry Hall.
Georgia, 32, and Jerry, 68, wore matching dresses in this photograph shared online.
Jerry made the remark, “Moms with polka dots,” referring to Georgia, who is about to give birth for the first time with Cambryan Sedlick, a 24-year-old skateboarder originally from Texas.
The eldest offspring, who shares a total of four siblings with Georgia through Sir Mick Jagger (of the Rolling Stones), expresses great enthusiasm at the prospect of meeting her third grandchild.
For Lily’s ears only
David Harbour, known for his role in Stranger Things, finds it challenging when Lily Allen frequently holds personal discussions with him using a speakerphone at high volume.
‘I’ve learned the first thing I ask is, ‘Are you alone?’ says Harbour, 49.
Afterward, she will rotate to scan the room, and you’ll see her daughters, her mother, a regular from the coffee shop, usually about eight individuals in total. In that situation, I would say something like, “Let’s just chat over the phone instead.”
