Kirsten Dunst is radiant in a floral gown as she cozies up to husband Jesse Plemons at 2026 Independent Spirit Awards

Kirsten Dunst looked glowing as she snuggled with her husband, Jesse Plemons, at the Film Independent Spirit Awards in Hollywood on Sunday.

The 43-year-old actress, after playfully defending her husband Jesse Plemons when he wasn’t recognized at the Oscars, looked stunning on the red carpet with stars like Nina Dobrev and Kaia Gerber.

Kirsten Dunst was recognized for her performance in the 2025 film Roofman with a nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

The mother of two stood out in a long, flowing dress decorated with bright floral patterns. She added a touch of style with a thin yellow belt tied around her waist.

Her blonde hair was parted on one side and fell in soft waves down her back.

Dunst chose to skip noticeable jewelry so her outfit would stand out at the event held at The Hollywood Palladium.

For the event, the star wore classic makeup, including mascara and shimmering gold eyeshadow.

She finished her look with a touch of pink blush on her cheeks and a satin nude lipstick.

Kirsten Dunst smiled brightly on the red carpet, and Patrick Plemons looked sharp in a black suit with a blue shirt.

The couple cuddled close as they stopped for a quick photo when they arrived at the glamorous event.

The actress glanced lovingly at her husband, who had his arm around her waist.

She also met Wagner Moura, who starred in The Secret Agent, and they greeted each other with a warm hug.

Last October, Dunst starred as Leigh in the comedy-drama film, Roofman.

The project also featured a talented cast including Channing Tatum, LaKeith Stanfield, Juno Temple, Peter Dinklage, Lily Collins, and Ben Mendelsohn.

According to IMDB, the story centers around a charming criminal who goes into hiding in a toy store to escape the police. While there, he creates a new persona and unexpectedly falls for one of the employees, starting a relationship that’s both surprising and dangerous.

Derek Cianfrance, the director behind films like Blue Valentine (2010) and The Light Between Oceans (2016), helmed this movie, which is based on real-life events.

Dunst reflected on her decision to take part in the movie during an interview with W Magazine.

Derek Cianfrance, the director, contacted me and asked if I’d take on the role. I accepted right away.

She clarified that she strongly prefers working with directors who have a clear vision. She sees herself as a collaborator who helps bring their ideas to life, trusting them to lead the creative process.

The actress expressed a desire to direct in the future, but shared that her current priority is raising her children.

I’d love to direct someday, but it seems like a huge commitment. With my two young kids, it just doesn’t feel like the right time.

I’m so happy for Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons! They’re amazing parents to their two sweet boys, Ennis, who’s seven, and little James, who’s four. It feels like just yesterday they got married in 2022, and I’ve been following their journey ever since!

In December of last year, Kirsten Dunst rarely spoke about her children and lovingly mentioned her ‘wonderful husband’.

Becoming a mother has made her more selective about the acting roles she chooses.

She shared at the Red Sea International Film Festival that she’s experienced burnout in the past and has struggled to maintain a healthy work-life balance.

I used to balance school with making movies, constantly switching between the two. But now I’m fortunate enough to be able to choose when I want to work and can take my time until the right project comes along.

I have two children, and I’ve been happily focusing on motherhood while also looking for work that I’m truly passionate about.

I’m fortunate to be at a point in my career where I can carefully choose projects that I’m truly passionate about.

Once she became a mother, Dunst found she felt more confident in her acting and began to enjoy her work even more.

I feel fortunate to have amazing people around me, including my supportive husband, and friends who stay grounded and don’t get caught up in the superficial side of this business. That’s been a huge help.

Along with Dunst, Plemons has also been keeping busy with awards season currently in full swing.

The actor recently appeared in the 2025 film Bugonia, alongside Emma Stone and Aidan Delbis. The black comedy thriller was directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, who has previously worked with Stone.

Bugonia has received four nominations at the upcoming Academy Awards including Best Picture.

Jesse Plemons received a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role at the Actor Awards, which take place on March 1st. (These awards were previously known as the SAG Awards.)
