As a long-time admirer and follower of Kirsten Dunst’s illustrious career, I must say that witnessing her special appearance at Hollywood Forever Cemetery was an unforgettable moment. Growing up, both “The Virgin Suicides” and “Bring It On” were staples in my teenage film collection. To see the actress herself recite lines from these iconic movies brought a sense of nostalgia that I can hardly put into words.

Enthusiasts of Kirsten Dunst were given a unique delight on Saturday, as she graced a dual screening of two of her movies, Bring It On and The Virgin Suicides, at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles.

In 1999 and 2000, two films featuring a 42-year-old actress were unveiled, namely “The Virgin Suicides” and “Bring It On.” Since then, these movies have been celebrated as enduring cult classics.

At the ‘Kirsten Dunst Slumber Party’ event held in celebration of the 25th anniversary since the films were released, the celebrity who hails from Point Pleasant, New Jersey made an appearance, as reported by Deadline.

The actress nominated for an Oscar, married to the 36-year-old actor Jesse Plemons, delighted her followers by quoting a line from the comedy film “Bring It On,” where she portrayed Torrance Shipman.

‘I’m Torrance, your captain Torrance – let’s go, Toros!’ Dunst said in reference to the film.

At the Southern California cemetery, Dunst expressed her gratitude to the gathering for attending her films, acknowledging both Cinespia and its creator, John Wyatt, for making it happen.

“Wow, this is absolutely incredible – something I’ve never seen before in my entire life,” Dunst expressed, clearly moved. “With my loved ones here and the chance to share this experience with all of you, I couldn’t be more excited.”

She added, ‘I haven’t seen any of these movies since I was a teen myself, with an audience.’

In the movie “Bring It On,” directed by Peyton Reed, Kirsten Dunst portrayed the character Shipman. This character aimed to motivate her high school cheerleading team towards the national championships following her discovery that their previous leader had unscrupulously appropriated routines from another institution.

In the movie, Gabrielle Union, Eliza Dushku, Jesse Bradford, Clare Kramer, and Nicole Bilderback all appeared together as co-stars.

In August 2000, Bring It On debuted in cinemas, ultimately grossing approximately $90 million globally. The movie made around $68 million in the U.S., with an additional $22 million earned from international ticket sales, according to Box Office Mojo’s reports.

In a different phrasing: The movie “The Virgin Suicides,” a romantic drama helmed by Sofia Coppola, was inspired by the 1993 novel of the same name penned by Jeffrey Eugenides. Set in Detroit during the year 1975, Kirsten Dunst played the central character, Lux Lisbon.

The cast of the film was rounded out by Josh Hartnett, James Woods, Kathleen Turner, Michael Paré, Scott Glenn, Danny DeVito and A.J. Cook.

According to Box Office Mojo, the global box office earnings of “The Virgin Suicides” amounted to approximately $10.4 million. This total includes $4.9 million earned domestically and a further $5.5 million generated internationally.

At the cemetery, Cinespia will be playing its final movie for the 2024 summer series on September 14, featuring the 1985 film “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure.”

The film’s star Paul Reubens, who died in July of 2023, is buried at Hollywood Forever.
