Kingsman 3 gets a disappointing update
As a dedicated Kingsman fan since the release of the first film back in 2014, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions upon hearing that the third movie might be delayed indefinitely. It’s like being told that your favorite band is going on an indefinite hiatus – you’re left with a sense of disappointment and a void that just won’t fill up.
Kingsman 3 has been given a disappointing update by a studio boss.
Originally scheduled for filming this year, the third installment of the series, provisionally named “Kingsman: The Blue Blood“, might not start production just yet.
20th Century Studios’ head, Steve Asbell, shared with The Hollywood Reporter that there are currently no immediate plans for either sequels or prequels of the Kingsman series.
The last main Kingsman movie came out in 2017, while prequel The King’s Man was released in 2021.
It seems that, as mentioned by Director Matthew Vaughn about a year ago at New York Comic Con, preparations for the third film were expected to start in 2024. However, it looks like those plans might have changed now.
In the early part of 2023, actor Taron Egerton shared some insights about the upcoming sequel in a conversation with Collider. He disclosed that director Matthew Vaughn is eager to make the film, and Egerton himself is committed to reprising his role as Eggsy once more.
Initially, I believed that was the path I had dedicated myself to. It’s the role that solidified my reputation, so I feel quite strongly about getting it just right if we revisit it. I want the narrative to accurately reflect the part that significantly impacted my life.
He went on to express hope that the third movie is “a fitting ending”, while admitting a desire to see Colin Firth return.
Egerton mentioned, “It’s something we’ll need to discuss in the future, but our paths may cross again soon, so let’s wait and see. rest assured, he’s still very much interested in the topic.
Additionally, the actor hinted that he had proposed a concept to Vaughn for the sequel, but mentioned that the director is already working on a grand idea of his own.
“So who knows, you know? Who knows where it will land?” he further reflected.
