King’s Minecraft Blast brings match-3 action to the Minecraft universe, begins playtesting on iOS in Malaysia

Story Highlights

  • Minecraft Blast introduces match puzzles to the iconic blocky universe, currently in early development.
  • The game offers vibrant puzzles, familiar mobs, exploration, adorable visuals, building, and more.
  • More regions will be added later, and the team plans to expand to more mobile platforms in future tests.

I was so excited to hear that King, the makers of Candy Crush, are testing out a new game called Minecraft Blast! It’s a match-3 puzzle game, and as a Minecraft fan, I think it’s awesome they’re working with Mojang Studios (who are now part of Microsoft) to bring more Minecraft experiences to our phones. Right now, it’s only available on iOS in Malaysia, but I’m hoping it comes to other places soon!

Enjoy an adorable twist on Minecraft in a fresh puzzle format

Minecraft Blast lets you enjoy the world of Minecraft in a brand new way! It combines the fun of match-3 puzzle games with the iconic blocks and characters you love. Solve tricky puzzles using familiar Minecraft elements, plus helpful boosters and exciting surprises.

My friends and I played a lot of Minecraft during the pandemic, so I was surprised to see it turned into a match-3 puzzle game! But it’s really cool – you can still unlock and build creative spaces in the Minecraft style, like everything from little cabins to huge castles.

Players can meet iconic Mobs and explore diverse locations

If you enjoyed the first game, you’ll probably love seeing classic creatures like Chickens, Zombies, and the infamous Creeper make a comeback. Plus, you can discover lots of different places to explore, including bustling villages, mysterious caves, and even pirate ships.

The game seems fun, with its cute characters and blocky design, and I’d like to try it before forming a complete opinion. I wasn’t necessarily asking for a game that combines Minecraft and Candy Crush, but I’m hopeful it succeeds – the developers have promised to add a lot more content over time.

The new game, Minecraft Blast, is now available for a limited-time playtest on iOS devices in Malaysia. You can get it from the App Store. More playtests, including an Android version, are coming soon!
