If you enjoy chess and are looking for a quick, unique mobile game, you might like King’s Gambit: Chess Survival. It combines chess with elements of roguelike arcade games and is available on both Android and iOS.
While we follow real chess rules, King’s Gambit has some power-ups to make it fun
Imagine you’re on a chessboard, moving slowly, while enemies constantly try to defeat you. Each enemy acts like a chess piece – rooks charge directly, bishops attack on diagonals, knights move in unpredictable leaps, and pawns block your way or defend their allies.
The really exciting part is building up long chains of captures. If you defeat enemies one after another without moving onto empty spaces, your combo score increases. If you manage a long enough chain, you’ll activate Royal Frenzy, which makes you temporarily invincible, freezes all enemies, and lets you clear the entire board.
The game features several helpful power-ups. Teleports let you quickly escape dangerous situations, shields protect you from harm, magnets attract nearby rewards, and a second chance can revive you if you’re about to lose. There are also two different kinds of shields available.
The game offers several ways to play. You can climb the ranks in Ranked mode, practice your skills without any pressure, or tackle specific challenges through Missions. Player-versus-player (PvP) battles are coming soon! Plus, you’ll enjoy an ad-free experience with no opportunities to pay for an unfair advantage.
If you find the idea appealing, you can download and play the game on any phone or tablet using the Google Play Store or App Store.
