Kyle Sandilands has been staying at his home in Vaucluse with his wife, Tegan Kynaston, and their son, Otto, for several weeks. This comes after the controversy and his departure from KIIS FM.
While reporters are constantly camped outside his house, eager for any news about his ongoing legal battle with the Australian Radio Network, another one of his properties remains vacant.
Just a four-minute drive away, on a peaceful, tree-lined street, sits a large house that’s been empty and decaying for two years. Sandilands, age 54, bought the property for $14 million in late 2023.
Kyle Sandilands recently purchased a luxurious home shortly after signing a historic 10-year radio contract with ARN. This purchase occurred just before his contract was terminated this week due to a claimed violation, which he plans to strongly dispute in court.
Online real estate listings described the four-bedroom, four-bathroom house as a beautiful, well-maintained family home.
A crystal-clear swimming pool with a cascading spa overlooked a breathtaking view of the harbour.
The home starts with a large outdoor deck that leads right into a combined dining and living space, creating a bright and open feel.
The main bedroom has its own bathroom and walk-in closet, and it’s located on the same floor as two additional bedrooms. A fourth bedroom is on the ground floor.
The property’s layout hasn’t been altered since Kyle purchased it, but it has definitely fallen into disrepair.
But our photos of the home, taken on Tuesday, show the rear wooden deck rotting and peeling away.
The pool used to be clear and blue, but now it looks like a swamp – the water is brown and filled with leaves and other bits of tree debris.
The hot tub hasn’t improved at all; its white tiles are now covered in brown dirt and grime.
Looking through the grimy windows, you can see the carpet is growing mold and lifting from the floor. The driveway is also clearly neglected, covered in months of dirt and debris.
Despite looking abandoned, singer Dannii Minogue’s business manager, Bruno Bouchet, told the Daily Mail that she does have future plans for the property in Vaucluse.
‘It’s being renovated,’ he said on Thursday when we asked what was happening at the property.
Bouchet and Sandilands were pictured just last week inspecting the home while workers attended.
Honestly, I’m still holding out hope! When someone asked if Kyle was finally going to move in with Imogen and their little boy, Bouchet seemed to hint he wasn’t sure yet. It’s killing me – they’re a family, they should be under one roof! I’m desperately hoping it happens, but Bouchet’s comment has me on edge. I just want to see them all settled and happy together!
When asked about when the renovations would be completed or if the house had been rented out for the past two years, Bouchet said he had no additional information to share on behalf of Sandilands.
He seemed hesitant to share those details, and wasn’t sure how comfortable he was with me knowing more, he explained.
People close to Kyle Sandilands and his wife say the couple initially intended to make their Vaucluse home their main residence.
The new owners were planning to renovate the property by adding another floor, and they intended to submit plans for this to the Woollahra Council.
Honestly, I’ve always known Sandilands and Kynaston had amazing taste! It just makes so much sense they’d choose somewhere secluded and green – they really value their privacy. And you know what else? Apparently, the local schools were a big draw, which is just… perfect! It shows they’re thinking about the future, and it’s adorable, honestly.
Despite the sale, the family continues to live nearby, just four minutes from their old house close to Nielsen Park. As of now, no plans have been filed to renovate or rebuild the Vaucluse property since 2002.
This follows an announcement made by Kyle Sandilands early Wednesday morning that his $100 million contract with KIIS FM’s owner, ARN, had been cancelled.
About an hour later, news broke that Michael Stephenson, the head of ARN, had sent an email to employees stating that The Kyle and Jackie O Show was cancelled.
The presenter Mike E will continue to helm a music show during the breakfast slot.
Okay, so things were already awful when we heard the show was cancelled, but then they sent out another email to the crew! Can you believe it? Basically, it was a ‘don’t talk to reporters’ message, and they told everyone to direct all questions to the network’s PR person. It felt so controlling, like they were trying to shut down any discussion about what happened. It just made me even more upset, honestly – like they didn’t want anyone to know the real story!
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following the news about Kyle and Jackie O, and let me tell you, the end of their show really rattled people at KIIS FM. It wasn’t just a show ending, though – a lot of the team are actually employed through Kyle Sandilands’ own company, King Kyle, instead of directly by ARN, the radio network. So, it wasn’t just about losing a program, it raised real questions about job security for those involved.
According to a source, many employees learned about the news through social media before receiving any official communication from the company. They weren’t officially informed until after the story became public.
‘I am just so angry about how it has all been handled.
This isn’t the right way to deal with things, particularly since the people who created the show are still coming to work every day.
ARN declined to comment.
Last month, the company said Jackie ‘O’ Henderson’s employment ended after she – or someone acting for her – told management she couldn’t continue working with Kyle Sandilands. This followed Sandilands’ outburst on air in February.
Okay, so here’s what happened. We at ARN sent a formal notice to Kyle Sandilands letting him know we viewed something that happened on air as a really serious breach of contract – specifically, a violation of our agreement with Quasar Media. It was a pretty significant issue, and we had to address it officially.
Sandilands was given a 14-day suspension during which he was required to ‘remedy the breach.’
The deadline was Tuesday night, and ARN announced Sandilands’ job loss the following day. He plans to challenge the decision.
