Kim Zolciak reveals which star made her feel ‘safe and reassured’ on Surreal Life as she works with Josie Canseco, OT Genasis and ‘great guy’ Chet Hanks
As a longtime fan of reality TV and a follower of Kim Zolciak-Biermann’s journey on various shows, I can’t help but feel a sense of sadness and concern for her latest chapter. The trailer for Surreal Life: Villa of Secrets hints at some intense moments in her personal life, particularly regarding her marriage to Kroy Biermann.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve had the privilege of working with many reality TV stars, and let me tell you from my personal experience, producing a show like Surreal Life: Villa of Secrets has led to some truly remarkable friendships for me. These connections have been forged behind the scenes during filming, and I can’t wait for you all to witness the authenticity and depth of these relationships when the series premieres on Tuesday.
After going through this experience as a Georgia-born woman, she reflected deeply on her responsibilities as a mom, more so after distancing herself from her own parents.
Reality star and mother of six, aged 46, parted ways from her NFL ex-husband Kroy Biermann in May, following a 12-year-long marriage. Their children include Brielle (27), Ariana (22), KJ (13), Kash (11), and the 10-year-old twins Kaia and Kane.
I’m absolutely thrilled to share that during this amazing experience, I forged some truly fantastic friendships. Among them are the remarkable women, Josie and Macy. Through their companionship, I’ve gained invaluable knowledge and insights.
Having O.T. (from the book of Genesis) with me put my mind at ease and gave me confidence. At first, I was quite apprehensive, but his presence helped me understand that everything would turn out alright.
‘This experience gave me the time to think about what I truly want and the changes I need to make.
I’ve had a falling out with my parents for quite some time now, as their actions led to a deep divide between us. Regarding my children, however, I draw the line: their wellbeing is off-limits for any misunderstandings or conflicts we may have.
During this ordeal, I found myself pondering which individuals I could rely on. Yet, the feeling of relief and renewed energy I experienced that day was truly extraordinary.
‘I needed the clarity that release gave me.’
Previously on Real Housewives of Atlanta, the star in question acknowledged that there are aspects of her life currently unfolding during her separation which are not widely understood. She admittedly lacks clarity regarding the future, but is determined to reacquaint herself with who she truly is.
She added: ‘People have no idea what’s really going on.
During this situation, I’ll keep silence as much as possible for the welfare of my kids. The future is uncertain; I have no idea what it may bring for me in relation to this matter.
‘I am happier now than I’ve been in a long time.
In various experiences, I’ve gone beyond my familiar and safe circumstances, leading to profound transformations – similar to what one might encounter on a show like The Surreal Life.
As you observe the entirety of this experience unfolding, you’ll understand why I’ve grown to cherish Kim so deeply. I’ve had to reacquaint myself with Kim and develop newfound admiration and affection towards her, ultimately leading me to make the difficult decision to choose her.
This comes after she played coy about a potential new onscreen romance.
She mentioned that only time will tell how things unfold between her and Chet Hanks on Surreal Life: Villa of Secrets.
I can’t speak for “she,” but if I were a dedicated follower sharing my thoughts about Chet in first person, it could be: “I’ve got to tell you, Chet is an amazing individual. He’s not just adorable but also a deep thinker. Throughout this season, we’ve shared some truly remarkable moments that I can’t wait for you all to witness. His insights during our conversations have been truly great.”
Yesterday, I had a conversation with Chet, mentioned Zolciak-Biermann. She further shared that herself and the other cast members have formed an unbreakable bond after their recent two-week filming experience.
In addition to the main actors, you’ll find Macy Gray, Tyler Posey, Ally Brooke, Johnny Weir, OT Genasis, and Josie Canseco joining the production.
Zolciak Biermann acknowledged that she wasn’t familiar with Chet, who is 33 years old, prior to entering the house. She even had to contact her daughter Brielle for information about him.
Kim commented, “Mom, there’s only one Chet Hanks in existence,” she explained. I responded, “Which Chet?” she asked again. “Hanks,” Kim replied.
In the initial sneak peek of Surreal Life: Villa of Secrets, released a month ago, Zolciak-Biermann was seen developing a close relationship with Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson’s son.
‘Kim is a MILF,’ Chet acknowledges in a confessional.
An excerpt from the promotion revealed them entering a room, and in the dark, a monochrome night vision camera captured him making his way into Zolciak-Biermann’s bed.
‘That’s gonna look so terrible,’ she could be heard saying in her own confessional.
In the trailer, Kim revealed to her fellow actors that she had ended her marriage to Kroy Biermann, whom she wed in 2011.
‘Kroy does not want me here,’ she said. ‘When I go home, I’m getting a divorce.
In August 2023, Kroy, who is 38 years old, filed for divorce from Kim, even though they had been attempting to resolve their problems since she initiated the divorce process back in May of the same year.
In November, there was a loud argument between the two adults that led their young child to dial 911 and bring the authorities to their house.
The body camera recording of the event reveals Kroy verbally labeling Kim as a “narcissist” and alleging that she had been unfaithful with other men.
In response to the harmful accusations made against her on Instagram, she issued a statement clarifying that Kroy’s remarks were both angry in tone and unfounded.
As an obsessed fan, I’d put it like this: “I want to make it clear that there’s been no infidelity on my part in our 12-year marriage with Kroy. Any suggestion to the contrary is completely unfounded and a blatant lie.”
I’ve held my tongue about these painful accusations for too long, but I can’t keep quiet any longer. My reputation is under attack, and I won’t let it go unchallenged.
She married the NFL alum in 2011, after which he adopted her daughters Brielle, 27, and Ariana, 22.
Additionally, they have children together including Kroy “KJ” Jagger (13), Kash Kade (11), and 10-year-old twins – a daughter named Kaia Rose and a son called Kane Ren.
Surreal Life: Villa of Secrets premieres July 23 at 9pm ET on MTV.
