Hey everyone, just wanted to share that Ray J is currently in the hospital with pneumonia. It’s tough because he actually dealt with this same illness a little over four years ago, so it’s a setback. Sending him all my best for a speedy recovery – pneumonia can really knock you down!
According to TMZ, the 44-year-old actor, who recently shared that he was hitchhiking across the country and asked fans for rides, was hospitalized in Las Vegas on Tuesday and is currently receiving treatment.
Ray J, the singer of “One Wish,” recently had chest pains and has had X-rays and an echocardiogram to investigate. The results of these tests are still pending.
Daily Mail has reached out to Ray J’s reps for comment, but did not immediately hear back.
This isn’t the first time the performer has battled a lung infection. They were previously diagnosed with and hospitalized for pneumonia in October 2021, during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Ray J was released after over a week in the hospital, where he originally needed extra oxygen and an inhaler to help him breathe.
When he was discharged from the Miami hospital, he was able to breathe independently. Sources told TMZ that he believed his demanding work schedule and frequent travel may have contributed to his health issues.
When he first came to the hospital, doctors thought he might have Covid-19 and put him in the Covid wing, which he said was a frightening experience.
But after undergoing five Covid tests, he was moved out of the wing two days later.
While recovering from pneumonia, Ray J told TMZ he believed he was facing a life-or-death situation. He said he began praying and felt comforted by his faith, believing God would help him through it.
He was recently hospitalized again this week with a lung infection, not long after sharing on Instagram that he was traveling across the country by hitchhiking.
Last December, the singer announced on social media that he was traveling from Florida to Los Angeles and asked his fans for help with food and lodging along the way.
He said he was hitchhiking as part of a reality show he was creating, called Celebrity Hitchhiking.
In a recent social media video, Ray J shared that he was trying to hitchhike to find a place to stay for the night.
I hope to become part of their family, learn how things work, understand what’s important to them, and then be ready to move on to my next adventure.
The actor explained he was hitchhiking to get a feel for the show, calling it a ‘scouting run’ to see if it was any good.
He said he was shooting the first episode of the show and used his camera to demonstrate he was working alone, with no other crew present.
“This is really happening, and I’m completely alone,” the singer explained. “I need to find food and a safe place to stay. A lot has gone wrong, and all I want now is to get back home to my children.”
I’m creating a show about hitchhiking, and I want it to be genuinely authentic. I film everything myself, just using my phone – though I do have a camera built in, it’s really just me doing all the work.
The actor shared a message with his 2.9 million followers explaining he was going through a difficult time and needed temporary housing and some assistance. He expressed his belief in the kindness of others and vowed to return the favor when he was able.
Ray J also mentioned he was in Tampa and hoping to return to Los Angeles before Christmas to be with his family and children.

In another video, Ray J was shown at a casino, telling someone he only had $800 left.
The videos appeared online shortly after his Thanksgiving arrest, which followed accusations that he threatened his estranged wife, Princess Love, with a gun.
The singer was arrested around 4:00am, according to Daily Mail records from that time. They were charged with a serious crime – making criminal threats, specifically described as behavior intended to cause fear and terrorize someone.
Police confirmed to TMZ that the incident took place at a home in the Porter Ranch area of Los Angeles.
Police had responded to a call regarding a possible domestic disturbance involving threats.
Ray J was taken into custody and spent a few hours in jail before being released on a $50,000 bail.
The celebrity unexpectedly joined a Twitch stream and said he was experiencing a terrible Thanksgiving. He also stated someone was trying to take his children and that he’d received threats.
During a recent livestream, Ray J was seen reaching for a handgun and appeared to load it. Shortly after, his wife, Princess Love, came into view holding one of their children.
She claimed the singer aimed a gun at her and their daughter, but Ray J disputed this. The situation then worsened when another man entered the live stream.
Ray J and Kim Kardashian dated from 2003 to 2006. During their relationship, they filmed a private video that was later leaked to the public in 2007.
Just before Thanksgiving, he sued Kim Kardashian and her mother, Kris Jenner, alleging they were involved in the leak of a scandalous video.
Alex Spiro, the lawyer for Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner, responded to Ray J’s claims by stating he believes Ray J is flailing due to the weakness of his case. Spiro predicted Ray J will also lose this lawsuit, which he described as baseless.
