Kim Kardashian is showing she’s current with youth culture by using the Gen Alpha slang term ‘6, 7’.
Parents and teachers in the UK and US are puzzled by a new phrase, ‘6, 7,’ that kids are using both at school and elsewhere. They’re unsure what it means and why children are saying it.
The phrase is especially popular among Gen Alpha – people born between 2010 and 2024 – and comes from a song called ‘Doot Doot (6,7)’ by the American rapper Skrilla.
It simply means ‘nothing’ and can be used to suggest that a person is ‘average’.
Kim Kardashian shared a funny story from her time on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, explaining she’s planning to revive some old-fashioned phrases that are currently out of style.
Jimmy found Kim in her dressing room backstage and told her it would be another six or seven minutes before they went on.

‘6, 7,’ Kim replied, smiling.
‘Yeah, I don’t think kids are saying that anymore,’ Jimmy replied.
She admitted the relationship was finished, but she managed to rekindle it. ‘That’s just something I can do,’ she explained. ‘I’m Kim Kardashian, and I have a knack for bringing things back when I want to.’
‘Seriously?’ Jimmy asked.
Kim said ‘no cap,’ a slang term that gained popularity in the 2020s to honestly emphasize she was telling the truth.
She asked what else was making a comeback, then did the ‘dab’ – a popular dance move that went viral in 2015, originally appearing in Atlanta hip-hop culture.
Kim brought back some classic catchphrases, like ‘Wazzup’ from the movie *Scary Movie*, ‘Groovy baby!’ from *Austin Powers*, and the well-known internet phrase, ‘Don’t tase me, bro’.
The numbers ‘6, 7’ became a popular trend online, with people sharing videos highlighting athletes they felt were underperforming. They often used a short clip from a song by the artist Skrilla to accompany these videos.
When 17-year-old Taylen Kinney was asked to rate his Starbucks order, he made a confused face and said ‘6,7’, which many believe was a reference to a popular internet meme.

Now, other basketball players are trying to use the phrase in interviews and videos to connect with and entertain their fans.
The phrase quickly became widespread in schools, to the point where some teachers have even had to prohibit its use.
A middle school teacher shared on Reddit that they’ve had enough of hearing a certain phrase, so they’ve prohibited its use in their classroom.
‘You can’t say the two numbers in a row without the class bursting out in a chorus of ‘6-7.’
‘It was funny at first, but now it’s just old and continually interrupts many class conversations.’

Mr. R, a PE teacher and content creator from Gen Z, joked about the viral ‘6 and 7’ trend, saying he suspects his students are more focused on those numbers than on his lessons.
He mentioned that during warm-ups, the whole class would enthusiastically shout ‘six, seven’ when counting to ten.
The 27-year-old admitted they thought they were up-to-date with current trends, but realized they were mistaken.
In his song released in December 2024, Skrilla raps ‘6,7,’ which Psychology Today suggests is a reference to 67th Street in Chicago.
Okay, so I’ve been following everything about South Shore, and it’s just… heartbreaking. I saw on Fox 32 that it’s actually ranked as one of the *most* dangerous neighborhoods in the state – like, top ten! And the stats… they said you have a one in thirteen chance of becoming a victim of *something*. One in thirteen! It’s terrifying, and honestly, it just makes me want to do everything I can to help. It’s just… awful to think about.
