Kim Kardashian reveals she walked Madonna’s dog in exchange for the singer’s iconic jewellery as she reflects on being neighbours with the Queen of Pop in new Vogue documentary
As someone who has always been fascinated by the lives of celebrities and their unique stories, reading about Kim Kardashian’s childhood encounter with Madonna is nothing short of captivating. Growing up, I could only dream of walking my neighbor’s dog for a few bucks or a candy bar, but Kim was exchanging her time for iconic neon bracelets from the Queen of Pop herself!
As a child, Kim Kardashian disclosed that she used to take care of Madonna’s pet dog, in return for which the renowned pop star gave her some of her famous jewelry pieces.
Instead of washing cars or babysitting for extra cash like many children do, the SKIMS founder, at 42 years old, had a far more prominent way to spend her time as a child.
In a scene from the recent Disney+ documentary “In Vogue: The 90s,” Kim reminisced about living near music legend Madonna, who was 66 at the time, during the ’90s when she was roughly eight years old. On many occasions, both Kim and her older sister Kourtney, aged 45 then, were responsible for taking care of Madonna’s pet dog.
Instead, the girls weren’t pocketing some cash for their savings, but rather received something far more stylish – iconic neon bracelets similar to Madonna’s.
Looking back on the moment when Madonna handed over that jewelry box as we took her pup for a stroll, I recall the day vividly. It was towards the end of her 80s neon era, and she bestowed upon Kourtney and me a shoebox as a gift.
Upon opening the box, we found an assortment of vibrant rubbery bracelets. She exclaimed, “Here girls, I’m really tired of this trend,” as we prepared to head to school. Dressed in our neon outfits, we attracted quite a bit of attention, with people asking, “Wow, where did you get that?
We said, ‘Madonna handed it to me,’ but they replied skeptically, ‘Oh come on.’ I insisted, ‘I swear, Madonna actually gave it to me!’
Beginning this Friday, you can stream the documentary titled “In Vogue: The 90s” – a glitzy exploration of the world of fashion as it unfolded throughout that iconic decade.
It speaks to former Vogue editors including Edward Enninful and Anna Wintour and celebrities such as supermodel Naomi Campbell, actress Gwyneth Paltrow and Sex And The City star Sarah Jessica Parker.
As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but mention that this piece showcases the renowned designer, Stella McCartney, who shares an exceptional advantage – being the daughter of the iconic Beatles member, Paul.
After Anna Wintour declared her choice to steer Vogue in a fresh direction in 1989 by examining the fashion influencers that young people admired, Kim expressed her thoughts.
The scene then it cut to Kim on the couch talking about her Madonna anecdote.
Back in April, I spilled the beans about my unique encounters with the one and only Madonna, during a heart-to-heart with Jimmy Kimmel. As you might recall, Kim was the one who shared this intriguing tale before.
After sharing about her job as a dog walker, Kim was then queried if she had ever tended to ticks or administered treatment on the property of Madonna, the famous pop icon.
In a surprising encounter, the reality star admitted that she crossed paths with Madonna while trick-or-treating, as she exclaimed: “We happened to meet while trick-or-treating. We both had masks on and were heading to the same house. When we recognized each other, I said, ‘Is that M? Kim?’
In the Vogue documentary, Kate Moss disclosed that during the nineties, she faced harsh criticism and even abuse regarding her “heroin chic” appearance, primarily from the parents of girls struggling with anorexia.
The woman, who gained fame as a symbol of a popular trend during the 90s at the age of 50, stated that strangers often confronted her on the street, alleging that she was endorsing eating disorders.
She told a new Disney+ documentary: ‘Parents would come up to me and say, “My daughter’s anorexic”. It was awful.
I believe my lack of a typical ‘fuller figure’ caught people off guard, as they weren’t accustomed to seeing someone slim in that role. If I had been more curvaceous, perhaps it wouldn’t have garnered as much attention. Essentially, I simply didn’t fit the mold of the models who came before me.
After a 19-year-old model posed in lingerie for the June 1993 edition of Vogue, her look gained widespread popularity.
