Kim Kardashian and Khloe blasted by PETA for ‘ignoring the homeless animals crisis’ after getting puppies for Christmas

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has criticized Kim Kardashian for gifting each of her four children a Pomeranian puppy for Christmas.

The 45-year-old reality TV star recently added four dogs to her family, but the decision to gift her children live animals sparked outrage online.

Khloe Kardashian recently welcomed a new dog to her family, having purchased it from a breeder during the holidays.

Ingrid Newkirk, who founded PETA, has released a statement criticizing Kim and supporting those who have spoken out against her.

Newkirk also called out Khloe for failing to adopt a dog from a local shelter.

PETA’s Ingrid Newkirk criticized Kim Kardashian for promoting a plush toy instead of adopting a shelter dog, stating that Kardashian is facing deserved backlash online for the decision, according to The Daily Mail.

As a huge animal lover, it really breaks my heart to see so many animals without homes. It felt especially upsetting when I saw Kim and Khloe getting new pets without considering all the animals already needing rescue. I’m hoping they’ll consider reaching out to PETA or a local shelter if they ever want another pet – there are so many deserving animals waiting for a loving home! And honestly, it would be amazing if they used their platform to help – maybe by having their kids volunteer at a shelter, sponsoring an adoption event, or even funding a spay day to help tackle the overpopulation problem. It would mean the world to me, and to so many animals in need.

Kim received a lot of criticism online after revealing she’d given each of her children a puppy for Christmas.

She shared a heartwarming photo of all four of her dogs snuggled together on the couch, captioning it, ‘Each child now has a puppy!’

Kim Kardashian shares four children with her ex-husband, Kanye West: daughters North, age 12, and Chicago, 7, and sons Saint, 10, and Psalm, 6.

Some fans took to Reddit to criticize her gifting decision.

‘Puppies are not Christmas gifts for kids,’ one Reddit user wrote.

Honestly, it really bothers me when people give pets as gifts without knowing if the recipient actually wants one and is prepared to care for it properly. It’s just… wrong, and frankly, pretty upsetting.

Someone commented that if each child gets their own puppy, it loses its meaning. They questioned how the children would learn to share affection for a single pet if they each have their own, treating it more like a virtual pet than a real companion.

Someone pointed out that people often don’t understand the commitment of pet ownership. They get animals simply because they’re cute or to please their children, but then lose interest when the animal gets bigger. The commenter found this behavior frustrating and irresponsible.

‘This is honestly so sad,’ another person chimed in.

Someone else seconded, ‘This is wrong on every level in every conceivable way.’

The four new additions to the family aren’t the only Pomeranians that Kardashian owns.

She also has dogs Sushi and Sake, whom she adopted with her sister Kourtney Kardashian in mid 2017.

In 2022, she came under fire after she appeared to show the dogs living in her garage.

Around that time, North, her daughter and TikTok partner, shared a video online of their pets wearing miniature coats and walking around the garage.

The dogs appeared to be in a large pen with pee pads inside.

The video highlighted the puppies’ Christmas decorations, featuring a small Christmas tree and stockings.

The post received strong criticism, with many fans upset that the SKIMS founder’s dogs didn’t have more suitable living conditions.

Okay, so Kim wasn’t the only one getting a new adorable pet! I nearly screamed when I found out Khloe got a Labrador for Christmas! She named her Peppermint, which is just the cutest, and honestly, my heart melted. I need pictures, like, now! It’s a full-on puppy paradise over there, and I’m living for it!

‘I am going to cry she’s the best in the world,’ she gushed.

She also tagged Big Creek Labradors, a Labrador retriever breeder based in Indiana.

Khloe’s daughters, seven-year-old True and three-year-old Tatum, really wanted a puppy for Christmas, and getting one means more than just a fun gift for them.

Khloé Kardashian, the founder of Good American, previously had a black lab named Gabbana. Gabbana passed away in 2018 at the age of fourteen.

As someone who understands the deep bond we share with our pets, I was really touched by Khloe’s recent post about her dog, Gabbana. She shared a heartfelt tribute, and honestly, it resonated with so many of us pet parents – she lovingly referred to him as her ‘first child.’ It just goes to show how much these furry family members mean to us!

I’m heartbroken to share that my beloved Gabbana passed away last night. She wasn’t just a pet; she was like my first child, and my closest friend and companion.

I’m heartbroken over losing my dog. Fourteen years is a long time to spend with a beloved companion, and she meant the world to me. I’m so grateful for all the joy she brought into my life, and I’ll cherish her memory forever. I love you, Goober!

Peppermint is settling into his new home, and Khloe has shared videos of True and Tatum bonding with him.

One of the family’s Russian Blue cats is getting used to her new kitten brother or sister. A picture showed the cat watching Peppermint sleep from the top of her chair, clearly curious about the little one.
