Kim Alexis, 64, was an 80s supermodel who posed in bikinis for Cosmopolitan – see her now
As I delve deeper into this fascinating narrative of Kim Alexis, the 80s supermodel whose radiant beauty graced countless magazine covers and catwalks, I find myself deeply moved by her journey. Her resilience and strength are palpable, as she navigated the often unforgiving world of fashion with grace and determination.
Kim Alexis was one of the top models of the 1980s.
She graced the covers of Vogue and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, and was a spokesmodel for fashion houses such as Gucci, Perry Ellis, and Ralph Lauren.
Currently, she’s not in the limelight, but she continues to flourish in her role as a loving mother to three children and resides happily in Arizona.
And she often posts videos and photos about health on her Instagram, and she still looks fabulous.
64-year-old fashion veteran recently spoke to People Health about her newfound comfort following years of battling hypothyroidism, menopause, and weight gain, as she’s now learned to embrace herself just the way she is.
That caused her to pull away from public life.
She observed that there seems to be a desire for us to maintain our youthful appearances, implying it’s as if aging is forbidden. She finds this unfair.
Currently, this well-preserved celebrity is frequently seen sharing tips about aging elegantly across various social media platforms. She expressed her vitality to People Health and graced their denim-themed cover alongside her beloved pet.
Born and raised in New York, she made it clear during the interview that she’s never undergone any surgical procedures or treatments such as Botox.
‘And I never will,’ she shared.
The blonde beauty added the older she gets, the more ‘confidence and wisdom’ she has.
Alexis also noted that she has struggled with menopause.
As I approached my golden years, I began noticing some unusual changes in my body. Upon further examination, it was revealed that I had been grappling with hormonal imbalances since my 30s, specifically due to a condition known as hypothyroidism. This realization served as a wake-up call for me to take better care of myself and seek appropriate medical attention.
The thyroid issue led to an increase in her weight. She shared, “I had to learn patience with myself and figure out my limits.” Although she wasn’t always pleased, she managed to adjust.
At age 54, one of her sons experienced a serious issue, causing her to be confined to bed. It was then that she discovered she was going through perimenopause.
However, she expressed that she’s usually an optimist, viewing her glass as half full. Once appropriately medicated, she continued with determination.
The cover model disclosed that she, like many other women, is learning how to grow older elegantly, organically, and attractively.

She also noted that she retreated from the public eye after her third child because the world is not kind to aging models.
She pointed out that it seems as though people expect us to maintain our youthful appearance, implying that aging is forbidden. She found this unfair.
Kim also reflected on her modeling career which began in 1978.
Following her signing with agent John Casablancas, he advised her to shed around 15 pounds. However, she found this challenging because she was more built for athleticism rather than slimness.
That caused her to try to ‘starve’ herself. ‘It was tough,’ the pinup allowed.
At the age of 23, a significant income stream was established when she secured a contract with Revlon for Ultima II. Subsequently, she experienced milestones such as marriage, having children, and even took on hosting responsibilities.

In the late 1990s, she was host of Daily Edition.
She acted too: in 1993 also appeared with Mike Ditka in the last episode of Cheers.
Alexis was also in the 1993 movie Body Bags, and the 1998 film Holy Man with Eddie Murphy.
In 2005, she appeared on VH1’s reality competition But Can They Sing?
She announced on Instagram that she’s graced the cover of the Winter/Spring issue of People Health. In this magazine, she opens up about her decision to age gracefully, highlighting the beauty and power in accepting who we truly are ✨.
