Kids Have Zero Respect for My Oscar

Charlize Theron has revealed her children have ‘zero respect’ for her award-winning acting career. 

On Thursday night, the 49-year-old actress graced Jimmy Kimmel Live, exuding elegance in a chic black blazer gown with a see-through long skirt. During the talk show, she shared insights about her kids’ perspectives on her professional journey.

Charlize’s journey into motherhood started back in 2012 when she took on the role of adoptive parent to Jackson, who was then 11 years old. In 2015, she welcomed another child, a daughter named August, into her family.

However, despite her being a renowned movie star and frequently appearing on billboards, it appears her kids don’t seem to be swayed by this, as she candidly admitted to Jimmy that “they hold no regard for me at all” in response to whether they are awestruck by her career.

Grinning at the crowd, she joked, “I can hardly believe it, but my kids seem to show no respect for me whatsoever. It’s a mystery to me!

Though I consider myself quite humble, occasionally, I may express something along the lines of, ‘It’s as if an Oscar is staring right at me.’

The audience and Jimmy erupted into laughter as she added: ‘No, they’re so not impressed with me.’

The Old Guard 2 – An Upcoming Action-Packed Superhero Movie

Details: This highly anticipated film is steered by director Victoria Mahoney and scripted by Greg Rucka, who also penned the original comic book, “The Old Guard.

The film revolves around the character played by Charlize, known alternatively as Andromache of Scythia, or simply Andy. She grapples with her recent awareness of mortality and readies herself to confront an enigmatic adversary, portrayed by Uma Thurman.

The action movie is set to launch globally on the streaming service Netflix on July 2, 2025.  

Before appearing on Kimmel, Charlize Theron greeted fans with a wave as she elegantly stepped onto the studio lot in Hollywood, making a stylish entrance.

The fashionable jacket she wore had a deep v-neck, smooth lapels made of satin, and a satin sash that accentuated her waist.

She sported a stylish pair of black open-soled sandals, featuring intricate buckle details. To complete her look, she added silver teardrop earrings and fashionable black sunglasses.

Her appearance on the program follows her revealing to PEOPLE in 2018 that adopting children had been a long-standing ambition of hers, which she discussed openly.

She shared that her childhood in South Africa significantly influenced her, as it gave her frequent encounters with orphanages and less fortunate kids within her locality from an early age.

As a devoted adherent, I’ve always been open and truthful about my intentions of adoption to my romantic partners, regardless of our relationship status. This is the path my family will take someday.

The star added: ‘This was definitely not a second option for me. It was always my first.’ 

In November 2023, Charlize spoke candidly with the publication about being a single mum. 

Speaking generally, being a parent can be tough. When you’re in the thick of it, it often feels like you won’t make it through. But once you’ve passed that point, it’s like, “Wow, this is incredible! I can’t believe I managed to do that!

Charlize Theron’s initial known romantic involvement was with the actor, Craig Bierko. They were together from 1995 to 1997.

She was then in a three-year relationship with singer Stephan Jenkins until October 2001. 

Starting from 2001, Charlize Theron entered into a romantic relationship with Irish actor Stuart Townsend, whom she met during the filming of “Trapped”. They shared their life between Los Angeles and Ireland until parting ways at the end of 2009.

Starting from December 2013, the actress was in a romance with American actor Sean Penn. Regrettably, their bond concluded in June 2015.

At that point, rumors surfaced stating they were engaged, but Charlize firmly refuted these claims, clarifying that their relationship was over before it reached a substantial level of commitment.
