Kiana Cook explains why she was bumped back to parole in Chicago PD
As a longtime fan of Chicago PD, I must say that Kiana Cook‘s debut in season 12, episode 5 was nothing short of impressive! Her grit and determination, especially during the heart-wrenching case of the missing girls, left me in awe.
In just a short span, Kiana Cook demonstrated her fittingness for Intelligence during Chicago PD’s twelfth season, episode 5. As she is now set to become an official team member, we first required some insight into her background.
Caution: There are some SPOILERS for Chicago PD season 12, episode 5 in this post.
In the latest chapter of my gaming world, I found myself drawn into a hunt for three missing girls. Tragically, one of them was discovered deceased, leaving me to solely focus on the remaining two. Although the case was handed over to Intelligence, Torres insisted I be part of the team due to my previous success in the Martel investigation with Ruzek. He believed my skills could prove valuable in this case too.
Why was Cook demoted in Chicago PD?
Torres was curious to learn more about Cook, noticing her professional work. However, Cook was hesitant to discuss her relationship with Montgomery. Eventually, Torres managed to get Cook to open up. Cook revealed that Montgomery moved at a slower pace and had concerns about his retirement benefits. He would only show up when there were assured arrests, and this was something Cook didn’t concur with.
After she brought it up, she discovered she had been put back on patrol duty. It seemed apparent that her partner manipulated relationships to have her downgraded, out of worry she might reveal secrets to others.
In her narrative, there was an air of surrender or acceptance. She recognized that she had no means to oppose him, hence she chose to adapt and find the silver lining in the circumstance. However, Torres had different strategies in mind.
Torres offers Cook a place on Intelligence in Chicago PD
By the finale, Cook appeared to be in a more favorable position. Torres proposed that Cook consider joining the Intelligence unit instead.
Indeed, it was clear that Cook was expecting to handle patrol duties. She assumed Voight might not want her on his team. However, Torres mentioned that Voight had agreed earlier. As spectators, we were aware of Voight’s affirmative response. There’s no doubt that Torres wouldn’t have extended the invitation if Voight hadn’t given the green light first.
All it would take now would be for Cook to say yes.
We’ll get to see Cook officially part of the team when Chicago PD returns on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
