Kevin Feige, currently the head of Marvel Studios, shares his inspiring vision for the Marvel Cinematic Universe that energizes him daily. Prior to Marvel Studios, Feige was a producer on various Marvel movies from the early 2000s, including titles like X-Men, Spider-Man 2, Hulk, and Daredevil. In 2007, he took on the role of President of Production at the newly established Marvel Studios and embarked on the mission to build the MCU from humble beginnings. At that time, Marvel had sold off most of its significant character film rights to competitors like Fox (Fantastic Four, X-Men) and Sony (Spider-Man). However, Feige skillfully navigated these challenges and transformed lesser-known Marvel characters into popular household names.
In recent times, as the Marvel Cinamic Universe (MCU) has grown to be the largest film franchise globally, Kevin Feige (now holding the position of Chief Creative Officer for Marvel as a whole), finds himself with an impressive collection of toys to play with. Following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, the X-Men and Fantastic Four have returned home, and a remarkable deal with Sony enables Spider-Man to feature in the MCU under a co-production arrangement. However, there are still nine characters that Marvel Studios are unable to produce films for. Feige’s extraordinary achievements with the MCU have earned him widespread acclaim as one of the most admired producers worldwide, essentially shaping the contemporary cinematic universe.
With “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” hitting cinemas in July, Kevin Feige spoke with GamesRadar about a notable aspect of its past. Specifically, he highlighted the close friendship between Peter Parker and Johnny Storm, dating back to 1963’s “The Amazing Spider-Man #1.” As Marvel Studios now controls both characters, Feige shared his long-held ambition to depict their friendship on screen for the first time.

Although Feige clarified that no on-screen chemistry tests were conducted between Tom Holland and Joseph Quinn for the role of Johnny Storm, there remained, as usual, a hopeful ambition to eventually pair them up, often referred to as an “ideal scenario.
In a recent statement, the head of the Marvel Cinematic Universe highlighted the friendships among the young superheroes as being particularly significant within the Marvel Comics universe. Previously unattainable on screen, he now considers it a realistic prospect that these meaningful relationships could be brought to life in future productions.
As a die-hard comic book fan, I can’t help but get excited when I hear about the potential for some epic team-ups! So imagine my exhilaration when there’s a real chance we might see not just Spider-Man and Human Torch on screen together, but an incredible blend of all our beloved Marvel characters! Can you picture it? The possibilities are truly electrifying!
Previously, we hadn’t enacted scenes involving chemistry; however, each time we selected characters, there was a hopeful aspiration for the day when we could do so. This is one of the significant connections in Marvel Comics between Johnny Storm and Peter Parker. Yet, we’ve never managed to approach it adequately before. Now, it seems attainable – and that prospect is thrilling, energizing me every morning.
It appears that both Feige and Quinn share a desire to see Peter Parker and Johnny Storm team up on screen. Quinn found it “fantastic” or “awesome” at the prospect, and praised Tom Holland for his portrayal of Spider-Man, calling him exceptional or outstanding.
Spider-Man and Human Torch’s Long-Awaited Crossover Is Coming

After the anticipated “Avengers: Secret Wars” in 2027, it seems that the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is planning a fresh start, unifying the mainstays of Marvel Comics – including the Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Spider-Man – into a single, integrated universe for Phase 7.
Audience can experience a hint of this interconnectedness when the Multiverse unites in the movie “Doomsday”. However, it will only be a preview as six X-Men heroes from the Fox era are back initially, before a fresh batch of mutant heroes debuts with the reboot during Phase 7.
With Kevin Feige bringing all Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) characters together, possibilities for crossovers, such as Peter Parker and Johnny Storm, are endless. Their bond may potentially be established in ‘Doomsday’, but it’s uncertain whether Tom Holland will feature in ‘Avengers 5’ due to ongoing logistical discussions by May.
As a movie enthusiast, I can’t help but speculate that these two characters will share screen time in an upcoming Avengers film. This encounter could pave the way for an enticing crossover in Phase 7 and beyond, given that Kevin Feige considers their dynamic as “one of the key relationships in Marvel Comics.” Clearly, he recognizes its importance and I’m excited to see how it unfolds on the big screen.
As a devotee, I’ve noticed an intriguing pattern in Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man series – each film has featured Tom Holland’s Peter Parker teaming up with another character from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, due to an arrangement with Sony Pictures. The upcoming movie, “Brand New Day,” promises to continue this trend by introducing Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, and Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova into the mix.
As a die-hard Marvel fan, I can’t help but notice the buzz around the upcoming Spider-Man movie. Now, I’ve always admired how the MCU has brought some incredible characters to life, even if they weren’t directly linked to Spidey in the comics. But this time around, things might take a turn for the nostalgic. You see, in one of the upcoming Avengers adventures, be it ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ or ‘Secret Wars’, we just might find the Fantastic Four making an appearance. And if that happens, wouldn’t it be fantastic (pun intended) to see Johnny Storm stepping into a supporting role in ‘Spider-Man 5’? After all, superhero crossovers are every comic book lover’s dream!
