Despite recent reports that he’s upset with a career article in The Hollywood Reporter, Kevin Costner is said to be working on a new TV show about treasure hunting.
Despite being reportedly furious about a harsh article claiming his recent work is failing, the two-time Oscar winner is already focusing on a surprising new project, according to a source at Page Six.
According to a source, Kevin Costner is passionately pursuing deep-sea diving, searching for lost treasure. He’s already discovered gold coins and emeralds in the Caribbean and is now developing a TV series about worldwide treasure hunting.
Despite his best efforts, ‘no one has signed on to finance it’ just yet.
He might be facing challenges because people are talking about a recent slump in his popularity, possibly after his latest film, Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 1, didn’t perform as well as expected in theaters last summer.
Kevin Costner has long been fascinated by the ocean. He previously showed this interest in the 1995 film *Waterworld* and in his role as a Coast Guard rescue swimmer in *The Guardian*.

The dad of seven has also hinted at future plans to explore underwater with archaeologist Alex Mirabal.
In a Facebook video, Costner shared the story of how he met her while diving near a shipwreck off the coast of Mozambique.
They visited the Castillo de la Real Fuerza Museum in Havana earlier this year to explore its collection of nautical records.
In a recording from 2019, he explained that he and Alex were working to make history more engaging. They had started a company and were currently searching for a boat to help with their project.
In February, Kevin Costner’s three-part series, Yellowstone to Yosemite, launched on Fox Nation.
The show depicts his journey following the 1903 trip President Teddy Roosevelt and John Muir took to Yosemite, as reported by Deadline.
He also delved into the history of Native Americans in the area, Yosemite’s past, and how the Roosevelt-Muir expedition helped establish and expand the National Park system, ultimately protecting 230 million acres of land and leading to the creation of national forests.
In 2022, Costner hosted and served as executive producer of Yellowstone: One-Fifty.

He explained that every so often, a remarkable true story emerges – one that’s so unbelievable it sounds like fiction, yet somehow overcomes huge obstacles. These stories not only make a positive impact on the world, but they’re also genuinely real.
Okay, so I’ve been following everything about Kevin Costner and *Yellowstone*, and apparently, *The Hollywood Reporter* is saying he actually *lunged* at Wes Bentley! Can you believe it? They’re claiming it was during some big fight on set. I’m honestly shocked, I’ve always seen Kevin as such a calm guy, but apparently things got really heated with Wes. It’s just… crazy to think about!
Costner reportedly became angry when Bentley, 47, wouldn’t change Taylor Sheridan’s script and instead insisted on performing the scene as written.
According to one source, Bentley informed Costner that he thought he’d agreed to work on a Taylor Sheridan project, not one produced by Kevin Costner himself.
According to someone who witnessed the event, Kevin reacted angrily and went after the other person. While they didn’t actually punch each other, they got very close, pushing and shoving until others intervened to pull them apart.

This incident apparently upset Kelly Reilly, the actress who plays Beth Dutton, so much that she cried, and filming of the popular Paramount show had to be temporarily stopped.
Daily Mail contacted Paramount and spokespeople for Kevin Costner, Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser, and Yellowstone’s creator, Taylor Sheridan, but haven’t received a response yet.
The situation was described as the final straw in a workplace already strained by disagreements over creative control and personal conflicts.
According to reports, many people in Hollywood have said they will no longer work with Kevin Costner.
Over the years, people have also criticized Costner for reportedly being difficult to direct, unexpectedly changing scripts, and often arguing with his fellow actors.

Kevin Costner’s old agent, Rick Nicita, who worked with him between 2002 and 2008, disagreed with suggestions that Costner was difficult to work with.
Nicita told The Hollywood Reporter that the word ‘difficult’ is often thrown around on set, and can describe a variety of issues – someone being uncooperative, forgetting their lines, or being unpleasant. However, he emphasized that this definitely wasn’t the case with Kevin.
He explained that the man was very determined and knew exactly what he desired. He wasn’t one to easily give in or find middle ground, possessing a strong self-belief that some might perceive as arrogance.
As a lifestyle observer, I’ve noticed something interesting about Kevin Costner lately. He’s been doing paid speaking engagements, which isn’t unusual for someone of his stature, but the *events* he’s been speaking at are a little unexpected! I’m talking bakery conventions and even gatherings for veterinarians. It’s definitely a departure from the usual red carpets and movie premieres, and it’s got people talking!
Sources speaking to The Hollywood Reporter say the issues surrounding Kevin Costner aren’t limited to the set of Yellowstone. They suggest personal conflicts are creating problems for him, leaving him unaware of what’s really happening.
A close colleague told The Hollywood Reporter they were deeply saddened and still couldn’t understand what happened. They felt he simply disappeared or lost touch with reality.
