Kevin Costner cuts a smart figure as he arrives solo for Venice Film Festival following divorce from Christine Baumgartner
As a die-hard fan who has followed Kevin Costner’s illustrious career for decades, I can say that witnessing his journey from Hollywood heartthrob to seasoned actor is nothing short of inspiring. His ability to adapt and evolve with the times while maintaining a strong connection to his roots is truly remarkable.
On Monday, Kevin Costner arrived at the Marco Polo Airport and was spotted making his way towards the Venice Film Festival.
With a lively demeanor, the 69-year-old actor and director was seen beaming as he stepped onto a water taxi that would swiftly transport him to the urban oasis of the island city.
He put on a beige linen shirt and pants that matched, layering a light jacket on top, and wore oversized black sunglasses.
On Saturday, Kevin will be attending the film festival as his movie, Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter Two, has its premier showcase.
In this captivating Western movie, it’s Kevin who takes on the roles of director, producer, and joint screenwriter. He isn’t shy about stepping into the spotlight either, as he shares the screen with talented actors like Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, and Jena Malone.
The sequel, titled Chapter Two, is the second installment in a four-part series focused on the examination of the American West; it follows the premiere of Chapter One in June.
On the contrary, the initial movie received harsh criticism from reviewers and struggled financially, causing an indefinite postponement of Chapter 2’s theater premiere.
Kevin personally funded the movie, disclosing that he invested approximately $38 million from his personal resources. Over several decades, he had endeavored to secure a studio for this project, ultimately resorting to self-financing. He also obtained a mortgage loan using his property in Santa Barbara as collateral.
Kevin shares Cayden, 17, Hayes, 15, and Grace, 13, with ex-wife Christine Baumgartner.
They had been legally wedded since 2004, but their marriage ended officially when their divorce was made final back in February of this year.

From the start of our relationship with Sean, it remained a secret to everyone. I never made public appearances with him. Instead, I held a strong sense of pride and preferred to keep things private.
In simpler terms, ‘At that time, I wasn’t well-known and my album wasn’t successful. Instead, it was struggling badly. I recall attending the Venice Film Festival with him, where I could have walked the red carpet and gained significant media coverage.’
Instead of saying it this way: ‘She said, “They would have asked, ‘Who is this girl?’ if I had released my album then. But I’d prefer to remain unknown for the rest of my life rather than have that be how the world first met me.”‘, you could also phrase it like this: ‘She stated, “Had I put out my album before, people might have wondered, ‘Who is this girl?’ However, I’d choose anonymity over becoming known in such a way.”‘
Instead of chasing fame desperately, what truly matters to me is feeling fulfilled, happy, and expressing myself as a songwriter. I wasn’t yearning for fame in the same way one might crave for water when they are dehydrated.
In the grand scheme of my life’s journey, I found myself tying the knot with a dashing rodeo cowboy, Ty Murray, in the year 2008. However, as life often unfolds, our paths diverged, and we parted ways in 2014. Yet, amidst the changes, we continue to share the precious bond of parenthood, nurturing our son, Kase, who at the time of writing is a lively 12 years old.
