At the 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards on a Sunday, Kerry Washington captured everyone’s attention with her striking and casually elegant appearance.
In 2020, the actress who was last nominated for a SAG Award for her role in Little Fires Everywhere, mesmerized spectators by wearing a bold Armani Privé gown that shimmered in rose gold. She chose to forgo a bra, adding an extra element of charm and allure to her appearance.
The beautiful gown showcased a delicate lace top, a graceful satin bottom, and an airy layer embellished with elaborate crystal and pearl embroidery – a combination that was just as captivating as Kerry’s poised presentation.
In an effort to emulate the timeless elegance of Old Hollywood, I carefully styled my hair into graceful waves that perfectly complemented my outfit. To complete the ensemble, I selected a chic clutch bag that mirrored the overall look.
At the gathering, Washington was part of an impressive cast that included celebrities like Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Pamela Anderson, Demi Moore, and Zoë Saldaña.
Throughout the evening, a total of 13 awards will be distributed, recognizing ‘exceptional performances’ across both movies and TV shows. These honors are determined by the votes cast by SAG-AFTRA’s over 130,000 members.
Kerry made her red carpet debut just under 24 hours after being deeply moved by winning the Best Actress award for her role in Tyler Perry’s Netflix movie, The Six Triple Eight.
The movie vividly portrayed the authentic account of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, an all-female military unit during World War II that was solely comprised of African American women.
In a highly contested category, Kerry emerged victorious, outshining Cynthia Erivo (for Wicked: Part One), Lupita Nyong’o (A Quiet Place: Day One), Regina King (Shirley), and Lashana Lynch (the Bob Marley: One Love biopic).
As she walked on stage to receive her award, Kerry openly expressed her surprise at winning, considering the exceptional caliber of the other nominees she was up against.
Radiating joy, she warmly hugged Cynthia as they made their way toward the stage, visibly moved and taken aback by the occasion.
Kerry shared that during award ceremonies, he often doubted that the winners were genuinely shocked – with the exception of Beyoncé at the Grammys, whose reaction was truly astonishing, as he put it, dramatically portraying a stunned expression.
However, I’m genuinely taken aback. I’m astounded because the women I’ve been nominated alongside are simply exceptional, incredibly so. I adore each one of you immensely and feel privileged to be in the same category as you.
She took a moment to sincerely thank her supporters, relatives, and the movie’s artistic crew, which includes Tyler Perry, Netflix, and her co-actors.
The 31st Screen Actors Guild Awards are being held at the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall.
Each year since last time, the event led by popular actress Kristen Bell will be broadcast live on Netflix. It begins at 8 p.m. Eastern Time.
The Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) hosts this event, which is unique among televised award shows as it specifically honors actors exclusively.
As stated on their official site, the SAG Awards boast the most extensive voting panel among all award shows.
