Kerry Katona’s harrowing interview makes it so clear how fame destroyed her. That’s why I find her actions with her daughter so troubling

Kerry Katona shared a deeply personal story with the Daily Mail, detailing how early fame nearly led to her downfall. She revealed she overdosed on cocaine twice and had thoughts of taking her own life.

Given that 45-year-old Kerry, a mother of five, became a millionaire by creating content on the adult platform OnlyFans, it seems surprising that she wouldn’t actively try to prevent her three daughters from making what she describes as the same regrettable and damaging mistake she did.

However, a quick look at her 18-year-old daughter Heidi’s TikTok reveals videos that are quite revealing, with Heidi wearing very little clothing.

Kerry Katona, who has openly discussed her struggles with self-harm, depression, and cocaine addiction, and even warned about the negative side of fame, is now appearing on TikTok with her daughter and, surprisingly, Katie Price. They’re creating videos for Heidi’s 17,500 followers, including one where they perform a suggestive dance to the song “Sex With Me,” which contains explicit lyrics. Many find this behavior inappropriate for a teenager.

Kerry enthusiastically supports and promotes her daughter, Heidi, even showcasing her on TikTok. Heidi is also gaining popularity online, with over 21,500 Instagram followers and the number continues to grow.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Kerry expressed concern for her friend Katie Price, describing her current state as extremely frail due to a series of difficult relationships, marriages, and financial troubles, as well as numerous cosmetic surgeries. Kerry believes Katie’s struggles aren’t simply the result of her own choices, but stem from the pressures of living in the public eye, similar to what Kerry herself has experienced.

Is fame truly responsible for the troubled lives of these women? Should we feel sorry for them, considering they both knowingly entered the public eye as young topless models and then profited from that lifestyle for years?

Given her own challenging past—marked by trauma and substance abuse—you might expect Kerry to be an incredibly protective mother, determined to shield her daughter from the experiences that caused her so much suffering and regret.

Heidi, Kerry’s daughter, doesn’t show any of this on her social media. Instead, she appears to enjoy the benefits of her mother’s income, as seen in a video where she poses with Kerry’s bright green Lamborghini and captions it, ‘Mummy’s money.’

In a separate video, she playfully referred to Kerry as her source of funds, also mentioning her mother always agrees to her requests and that she has unlimited access to money.

Honestly, it just feels…off to me. Seeing someone so young seemingly celebrate the very privilege her own mother says has brought her pain? It doesn’t sit right. As someone who follows this family, it feels incredibly insensitive and a bit tone-deaf, and I wonder about the message it sends.

It’s hard to understand how someone with five children from three different relationships could be so oblivious. Doesn’t she realize she’s setting a bad example by publicly boasting that her OnlyFans income allows her to afford private school for her children, as she did in her recent interview?

It’s easy to picture how embarrassed her children might be when they’re dropped off at their expensive private school, with everyone knowing what their mother does for a living.

Kerry Katona revealed in a recent BBC documentary that she began taking antidepressants at age 19 to deal with the intense pressure of fame. This pressure stemmed from both her work as a topless model and her time in the girl group Atomic Kitten, and she also turned to drugs as a way to cope.

She explained, with a sad tone, that she’d hoped to share the truth about her past drug use with her children before the documentary aired. She had a difficult conversation with them, and was heartbroken when one of them, after she explained, simply asked, ‘Mom, what’s a cokehead?’ It was a deeply shameful moment for her.

I’m just worried she didn’t share overly graphic details—specifically, the story about her nose surgery, where they used part of her rib to rebuild it after it was damaged by her drug use.

Look, as someone who observes trends and shifts in culture, I’m honestly not interested in the story of this former teen pop sensation reinventing herself on OnlyFans. It’s a bit disheartening to see someone who had so much early success seemingly capitalizing on a different path after, frankly, not making the best choices for a long time. I prefer to focus on positive and inspiring transformations, and this just doesn’t fit that bill for me.

It’s difficult to take Kerry’s statements about not wanting fame or fortune – and simply desiring to be a mother and wife – seriously. This is especially true considering she’s now pushing her 18-year-old daughter to follow in her footsteps and become famous herself.

If this former celebrity truly wants to be a good mother, as she claims, she would advise her daughter to choose a different career path.
