Distraught Kerry Katona disclosed that she experienced hair loss (alopecia) amidst the turbulent breakup with her former fiancé, Ryan Mahoney.
Kerry, aged 44, and Ryan, aged 36, a personal trainer, parted ways in November following six years as a couple, due to an instance of broken trust.
Currently, Kerry admits that her emotional distress left her feeling drained, causing her to lose chunks of hair from the back of her head as she tirelessly worked through a demanding stage performance in Cheshire during a production of Cinderella panto.
During the hectic pre-Christmas season, I found myself juggling two to three live performances every day, all while participating in the traditional holiday pantomime, as I shared with the Daily Mail.
‘It was heartbreak, it was exhausting. I also got alopecia. It was really stressful.’
Inquired about whether her hair was growing again, the previous member of Atomic Kitten responded, “No, I remain bald.” She added that there is still a bald spot on her head where her hair hasn’t yet regrown.

Alopecia can be temporary or permanent, and can affect the entire body or just parts of the scalp.
Kerry verified that only her head’s hair was shedding, while the rest of her, like her eyebrows, remained unaffected.
However, she is handling the traumatic experience with typical resilience.
She remarked, “It’s just hair,” she said. “It’ll regrow. I use tape extensions instead as mine began to fall out.
Laughingly indicating the smallest parts, she said playfully, “I resemble a mix between the Tiger King and Garth from Wayne’s World.
Last year, Kerry shared that the hair extensions she used caused them to fall out, making her hair appear thin and fragile. However, her latest hair loss is attributed to stress.
Following her recent heartache, Kerry has resumed dating, having crossed paths with personal trainer Paolo Margaglione during the production of the upcoming Celebs Go Dating series in Ibiza this year.
Although she maintains a friendly relationship with Ryan, who plays a significant role in raising her daughter DJ, and they jointly run businesses, she rules out any possibility of their reconciliation.

‘I would never go back to him – not in a million years,’ she said defiantly. ‘I know my worth.’
She went on saying, “I wouldn’t speak ill of any of my past relationships. Each one played a role in shaping who I am today.
However, it gradually developed at a sluggish pace. I clung on with mere perseverance. I craved for engaging discussions, empathetic understanding, and open emotional expression.
I feel a strong bond towards him, more like a younger sibling indeed. He played a significant role in raising DJ. I strive to avoid holding onto negative emotions such as resentment, regret, or anger because they taint my character. Instead, I aim to be the best possible version of myself.
‘I wake up every morning thinking: ‘How lucky am I? I’m so blessed.’
Kerry expressed deep sadness when Ryan breached her trust, hinting mysteriously that ‘he found himself in a place where he ought not to be.’
But she joked that she was grateful for the ‘heartbreak diet’ that followed their break-up.
In the year 2019, Kerry made her debut on Celebs Go Dating. It was prior to her romance with Ryan, whom she encountered on a dating platform.
Ryan proposed to mother-of-five Kerry during a family holiday to Spain in 2020.

Previously, Kerry was married to Brian McFadden for four years (from 2002 to 2006). During this time, they had two daughters, Molly who is now 23, and Lilly-Sue, also 23.
Between the years 2007 and 2011, she was in a marital relationship with Mark Croft, who is the father of her two kids, Heidi (aged 18) and Max (aged 17).
From 2014 through 2017, I was wedded to George Kay, the loving father of my little girl, Dylan-Jorge, affectionately referred to as DJ. Sadly, George passed away in 2019 due to an overdose.
Next week, you’ll have the chance to watch as Kerry seeks romance, with guidance from the dating experts on Celebs Go Dating, including Dr. Tara Suwinyattichaiporn.
Kerry joins an illustrious ensemble that includes Christine McGuinness (aged 37), Jon Lee from S Club 7 (at 43 years old), Olivia Hawkins (30), a contestant from Love Island, and Mark Labbett, also known as ‘The Beast’, from The Chase, who is 59.
The new series of Celebs Go Dating starts Monday, August 11, at 9pm on E4.
