Kerry Katona admits her seriously unwell mother Sue ‘isn’t coping when her oxygen is removed’ as she shares worrying health update after a ‘particularly difficult few days’
As a compassionate observer, I find myself deeply moved by Kerry Katona’s harrowing yet inspiring journey through life. Her resilience and ability to rise above adversity is truly commendable. Born into a tumultuous home, her earliest memories are of watching her mother struggle with mental health issues and self-harm. Yet, Kerry’s story is not one of despair but triumph.
Kerry Katona recently posted an anxious health report about her mom, Sue, who’s been struggling. She mentioned that her body can’t handle being without oxygen support.
More recently, the previous member of Atomic Kitten, now aged 44, disclosed an alarming incident where Sue required immediate hospitalization after experiencing instances where her life was at risk not once, but twice. Additionally, in this ordeal, she also sustained a broken back.
Kerry mentioned that the past couple of weeks have been especially challenging, as she shared her thoughts with readers in her New magazine column this week.
This week has kept me quite occupied as I’ve been looking after my mother and also finding time for my loved ones.
I’ve been residing at my mother’s house to care for her cat, but I realized the children were longing for me, so I purposefully spent quality time with them during Bonfire Night.
She added: ‘She’s been moved from a private pod to a ward, which is a good sign, but her body isn’t coping if they remove the oxygen. We just need to take one step at a time – but it’s been a particularly difficult few days.’
The television figure lately disclosed that Sue has been diagnosed with blood clots, adding to her existing health complications. She openly discussed this challenging period in her life emotionally.
She said: ‘I’ve had a very challenging week visiting my mum in hospital every day.
‘She’s suffering from blood clots and other health issues and I’ve cancelled all of my work to focus on looking after her. It’s been an emotional week.
Typically, I spend Bonfire Night with the kids, but it all hinges on how my mom is feeling that day.
I find myself unable to schedule anything, as my daily life revolves around her. If you could, please keep us in your thoughts and good wishes.
On Sunday, Kerry posted a touching video for her Instagram audience, updating them on Sue’s progress towards healing.
From my perspective as a lifestyle advisor, I find myself seated by Sue’s hospital bed, sharing an update with her beloved followers. You see, Sue shares a tale of resilience, for years ago, she experienced an unfortunate incident that left her with a broken back. However, the intricacies of this event remain a mystery to her and us.
While filming a video for social media, her mother remarked: “Given all that was shared with me and my state of severe illness, I came close to dying not once, but twice. Additionally, I suffered a broken back.
‘And I don’t know how, but apparently it was years ago.’
Kerry then went on to explain ‘it wasn’t years ago’ but she had broke her back.
Afterward, the singer disclosed that her mother often irritated her due to repeated requests for her to take her to the hospital over a period of time.
Her heartfelt update comes after she revealed that her mum had been rushed to hospital after doctors found blood clots in her lungs.
On a Monday, Kerry posted a video from her mother’s hospital bed, confessing that she had effectively “prevented her mother’s demise.” Her mother, Sue, acknowledged that she would not be alive today if Kerry hadn’t taken her to the hospital.
As I eagerly display the painful bruises marring my mother’s delicate arms to the recording lens, I, with a heavy heart, confess to the unseen audience: “I’m far from okay. I’m battling a high fever, and look at this arm – it’s a constant reminder of my suffering.
Kerry then asked her: ‘What did the say would have happened to you if I hadn’t have brought you?’
Her mum replied: ‘I would have been dead Thursday night. That’s it I would have been dead.’
Kerry commented, “She isn’t completely out of danger just yet,” before her mother said, “Let me put it another way: She truly saved my life.
Kerry then joked: ‘See it’s what happens when you watch loads of Grey’s Anatomy’.
On Sunday night the reality star took to Instagram to ask fans to pray for her mother after a scary 24 hours.
She shared that it had been over 24 hours since she last went to sleep, leaving her feeling drained, yet she chose to stay near the hospital.
She expressed regret for not responding to work calls, mentioning that she had been going through a difficult period as her mother was under the care of doctors.
In the video, she greeted everyone and apologized for her appearance, explaining that it had been since 3 a.m. the previous day, not just that morning, when she last slept. She also mentioned that she had taken her mother to the hospital, which resulted in a sleepless night for both of them.
I want to express my gratitude to everyone who has reached out. Unfortunately, my mother was diagnosed with lung clots, and she isn’t doing well. The past 24 hours have been extremely challenging for our family. Thank you all once again for your support during this difficult time.
I appreciate your persistence in reaching out regarding work matters, but I must ask for your understanding as I need to prioritize other aspects right now. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
‘I need to get some sleep so I can get back to the hospital, so I can be there for my mum.
The previous contestant on I’m A Celebrity has consistently been open about her experiences growing up with her mom, and she’s shared stories in the past about the challenges she faced during her childhood.
Earlier, she shared that her first distinct recollection involves witnessing her troubled mother, Sue, self-harm by cutting her wrists, an event that occurred when she herself was only three years old.
Kerry recently shared with New Magazine her experiences growing up with a mother who dealt with manic depression, a topic she has discussed extensively before due to the challenges she faced during her upbringing.
She said: ‘My earliest memory is watching my mum slit her wrists. I was three. She was manic-depressive and self-harmed until I was 15. That’s just the way my life is. I’ve come so far from being a foster kid growing up in a council house.’
Kerry often shares insights about her upbringing in Warrington, Cheshire, including a chilling incident from last year when her mother’s former partner threatened to amputate her feet after stabbing her distressed mom.
After the harrowing event that happened when she was thirteen, the woman with five children shared that she ended up being placed in a foster home afterwards.
In addition, Kerry talked about her mother Sue, who had a difficult upbringing and struggled with substance abuse and mental health problems. She went on to say, “She wasn’t quite sure how to be a mom.
Reflecting on her mother’s past struggles with self-harm and difficulties, Kerry admitted that she harbors no regrets and is content with the way her life has unfolded today.
