Kerri-Anne Kennerley’s bombshell accusations about her I’m A Celebrity! Australia contract saw top Channel 10 producer fired in huge fallout
As a seasoned television viewer and follower of the industry for decades, I have to say that the recent turn of events surrounding Kerri-Anne Kennerley’s time on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Australia has left me rather intrigued.
It has been reported that allegations made by Kerri-Anne Kennerley during her stint on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Australia resulted in the termination of one of the show’s producers, according to a source.
In 2023, the well-known television personality, who was 70 at the time, agreed to participate in Channel 10’s reality TV program. However, he departed the jungle after only three days, even though he had promised to stay for a full three weeks.
Over the past week, I’ve shared that my unexpected departure from the show was due to a betrayal by the casting team. They misled me with false assurances prior to my jungle entrance.
Currently, there are whispers from within “I’m A Celebrity” circles suggesting that a high-ranking Channel 10 producer was let go following the incident, and it is said that this individual hasn’t found work in TV production since then.
They informed Daily Mail Australia that he unfortunately became the unintended casualty in the fiery commotion that Kerri ignited upon her return to Australia.
After the incident, several manufacturers chose not to return, however, a highly experienced individual who had been part of the team since its inception decided to leave as well. It was unfortunate to witness his departure.
Producers speculate it might be challenging to attract new celebrities next year, given Kerri Anne’s recent allegations, they noted.
A previous daytime show producer, who also supported Kerri-Anne’s statements, revealed that producers had lied to her concerning the show. They shared insights into the true methods used for cast selection within the program.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m sharing my perspective on a recent situation: Securing that deal would require substantial resources and plenty of time for patience, and here’s why I suspect deception might have taken place. From what I can gather, either crucial details were omitted or they outright lied to her.
Network Ten had a specific strategy when negotiating with top-tier stars for their participation in I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!.
A fellow participant from the year 2016 admitted that not all the promises made were kept, and as many of us grew tired, we chose to ignore the issues rather than voice our complaints.
In my experience as a seasoned television producer, I’ve noticed that some individuals can become increasingly bold when it comes to manipulating offers, especially when dealing with personalities like those on Gogglebox. However, attempting such tactics with TV royalty is a different story altogether – one I wouldn’t dare try. This is particularly true in the case of someone who knows how to hold producers accountable for their promises, as she clearly does.
Additionally, it’s been reported that selecting celebrities for ‘I’m A Celebrity’ has grown increasingly difficult due to a larger pool of Australian stars who have previously participated in the show.
The play poses a significant challenge when it comes to casting. Over the years, renowned figures such as Denise and Kerri-Anne have reportedly been approached for roles, and their list of potential candidates has gradually expanded. This is the assertion they made.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve noticed an interesting shift. It appears that the approach they once relied on isn’t yielding the same results anymore, which is why you’re seeing a growing number of renowned English personalities participating in this particular program.
According to one report, Denise Drysdale, a contestant for 2024, was granted certain contract modifications, such as being allowed to bring sleep aids and meal replacement shakes into the jungle. However, she didn’t utilize these advantages during her stay in the competition.
According to the source, Denise Drysdale had planned some secret modifications to her contract. However, once she was involved, she declined to honor any of these agreements because she believed it wouldn’t be right for the other camp members.
Daily Mail Australia has contacted Network 10 for comment.
After Kerri-Anne voiced her strong criticisms of Channel 10, she shared details about her emotional departure from “I’m A Celebrity” on her podcast, The Sh*t Show.
The television personality informed Tammin Sursok that some assurances given to her prior to entering the jungle had not been fulfilled.
She said that ‘Someone approached me and made these promises, and at that moment, I didn’t have anything else keeping me busy.’
‘I got promised a bunch of stuff and they lied. And so instead of being in there, the three weeks I committed to, I got out in three days. They lied.’
Kerri-Anne expressed that she preferred not to discuss the promises made by the producers, yet she admitted that participating in the show was a decision she regretted as one of the most unwise choices she had ever made.
If given an extra nanosecond to consider or if those words hadn’t been spoken to me, I would never have acted so quickly, she stated.
She added: ‘[I] thought I was pretty bulletproof, and then you get wounded and move on. But no … dumb, dumb, dumb – and lies. That’s what I put it down to.’
Channel Ten declined to comment when contacted by Daily Mail Australia.
In a dramatic turn of events, Kerri-Anne chose to exit the jungle following an intense argument with MAFS celebrity, Domenica Calarco, who labeled Kerri-Anne as incredibly self-absorbed. The altercation between them became quite heated.
Later on, it became clear that Dom had referred to Kerri-Anne as a derogatory term due to her decision not to join an eating contest. However, this incident was not included in the final broadcast.
After leaving The Daily Telegraph’s Sydney Confidential, Kerri-Anne commented about the remarks saying: ‘I may be tough, but it doesn’t make insensitive words any less painful.’
In my own journey through life, I’ve come to learn that we all make mistakes and face challenges, but it’s important to remember that our worth as individuals is not defined by these moments. However, dwelling on regrets doesn’t serve us well. Life is about learning, growing, and moving forward. So, while I may have my share of past missteps, I choose to focus on the lessons they’ve taught me rather than linger on what could have been different.
Kerri-Anne expressed that she felt disappointed about leaving the show so early, yet she “enjoyed” her stay at the camp alongside several well-known personalities she found “fascinating.”
‘I am very disappointed that I couldn’t stay,’ she said, adding that the challenges were strenuous.
